OT: smugsmug.com ?

I have purchased the professional membership and have been extremely pleased. I am able to set print prices and earn a profit with smugmug handling the billing, printing, and shipping through ezprints. I have been able to use my own domain name to link to my smugmug site, and there are numerous customization options so you can make the page "yours". Check out my smugmug page at http://www.nextprophoto.com as an example.

i have been interested in an alternative to pbase but here is a pasted paragraph from their terms. not sure exactly what it means but it doesn't look good.

"Unless we indicate otherwise, if you upload Content, including any Media, to the smugmug site, you grant smugmug a nonexclusive, royalty-free right to publish, distribute and display the Content as we deem appropriate in providing the Services authorized or requested by you, including the right to use the name that is submitted in connection with such Content."

LOL. So, you pay a subscription and they can further make money of your images. Nice.

You're asking them to print and distribute the printed photos, "publish" them on their server and display them for your potential customers...

How on earth are they supposed to do that legally if you don't grant them the right to do that?

It seems like a grey area here.

Smugmug????
OK, I purchased my domain name through http://www.register.com . The next step was to enter "domain alias" on my account with register.com, so I entered http://nextprophoto.smugmug.com . Then I had to go under account settings, professional, on smugmug to enter my custom hostname. I think that's all of the steps. There was about a 12 hour waiting period before register.com started redirecting the traffic to to alias site.

Hope this helps!
