What type of studio management software are you using for client tracking, calendar, income/expense? I am currently looking...any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Peachtree software is a very good choice. I have set it up for a number of friends in all sorts of businesses. It can be taylored to industry specific accounting practices.

I just came across Success Ware while doing a search on yahoo. Does anybody have experience with this software? If so, what are your impressions.

If you are commercial (advertising, editorial, industrial) type photographer there is a pretty good software packag called Photobyte, it comes with a book called Focus on Profit (Allworth press) by Tom Zimberoff. I don't think it would work very well with weddings, portraits etc.

I was just looking at the software site myself. It looks interesting, but for over 1000 you kind of need to talk to someone before you buy it.
Have you found anyone who has it and is using it?

Maybe you could use one or more of the Express Digital Products such as "Package & Print," "Portrait & Wedding," School & Group," and "Sports & Event." These are all specialized into different activities, but you might want to visit their site to see what they have:

If anyone has tried it. I have...... and I have got to tell you that it SUCKS! I mean it has a great concept but bad execution. The app is built from some generic program called FileMaker.

Furthermore is seems more catered to commecrial and stock photography, but you can use it for other purposes.

The download is actually free even though they ask for donations.

I also use Peachtree. It takes some time to set up but well worth the price.

There is a difference between studio accounting software, on one hand, such as Quickbooks and Granite Bear that track invoicing, figure tax and payroll, tracks payments, and allow you to process credit card payments and, on the other hand, file management software such as Express Digital, Studimaster Pro, and ProShots that allow you to import, number, and devise slideshows, post images online, design wedding albums. and upload files directly to your lab for printing.

Most studios need both. Ideally, your studio management software and file management software should be linked as is ProShots and Granite Bear such that as you generate customer orders, their invoices are automatically entered into your accounting software. This combo is very efficient and your accountant will be very impressed. It also helps keep a finger on how your business is doing and where you stand financially.

I left peachtree to make a move to quickbooks. Peachtree is not compatible with many other programs. Plus it seems built for accountants rather than small business owners.

thanks for posting that... I'll have to give it some thought. It sounds pretty decent but doesn't seem to manage contacts which shouldn't be something hard to add the the program. Maybe I'll make that suggestion to them.
