Canon S50 / Nikon D70
hi Bruce,
Very nice pictures.

Coincidentally I, being on the other side of the globe yesterday afternoon (Holland, in the dunes near Haarlem) took some pictures that resemble yours. And while I have a D70 on order, I was still using my Coolpix 5000. Poor me!

Maybe I'll post some tomorrow (didn't bring my camera with me today, so can't do it right now)

THANKS Bruce!

Any 100% crops or full sized images may really be more useful.

Especially that lovely pebbled seascape.

Thanks in advance!

Nice shots Bruce. Would also like to see some 100% crops :)

I picked up my D70 today and so far very happy with it. Have the day off work tomorrow so will be spending the day taking some photos (unfortunately it looks like it will be overcast) - but hopefully will end up with a few nice shots to post :)

Very nice :-) All you D70 owners are making me envious! I am definitely thinking about joining the D70 club now my 4 year old Coolpix 990 is approaching retirement (it has served me incredibly well).

I'm curious, how much did you pay for it? Did you get the lens too? I was recently in NZ and know someone who is going over there again soon so I was thinking about trying to get it duty free... Not sure what the deal is but I'd like to get some idea of prices...

Thanks,

Stephen

Great shots Bruce, I really like #2, the driftwood.

Thats what I like about this camera, the more I use and get to know it, the better my pictures get, you must be very happy with your new toy. I have been asked to photograph for our friends who are christening thier daughter on Sunday and I cant wait to give it a good workout.

I cannot seem to find the ISO rating on the EXIF data. I've noticed this missing on my photos too.

Am I missing it somewhere?

Australian RRP $2299 :(
eeek! That's higher than I was hoping... I'm assuming that's with the lens?

Although it is hard to be patient, I think I will wait a while if I can... $1299 USD does not equal $2299 AUD so somebody is taking a big slice. D100's must be getting down around that price now in AUD too? At least that's what I think I saw... I wonder how much the D200 will go for if/when it is released? Just wondering aloud here...

Which program are you using to look at those details? For a long time I've used IView (www.irfanview.com) for all my photos and it has a simple EXIF plugin that lets you see all the data in quite easily. There's lots of other good free EXIF readers out there too...

yeah thats with the kit lens. Yeah Australia gets hit hard when
importing things :(
Hmmm, that's really annoying... Unless I wait for the price to settle a lot more, my only other hope is that I can get it duty free which should take about $230 off I think... Then again, the warranty bothers me a bit with having to send it back to the country of purchase for any repairs...

Thanks for the info btw :-)

I'm using Photoshop 7. I. It has "ISO Speed Ratings" for other digital camera shots I open - but the shots from the D70 does not mention any ISO settings by the look of it.

Just curious how many 3fps shots the D70 can manage in RAW? I know the buffer is 4 shots, but I want to know if the smart buffering helps with RAW as much as it does with jpeg.

Thanks.

Australian RRP $2299 :(
Wowww, thats a lot. I did some currency conversion and found that the lowest price here is 2/3 of that(without lens) and I still wouldn't buy it coz I want the Outfit. Looking forward to your pic post from D70

Philippine peso that is,

Nice photos Bruce. I especially like the driftwood on the beach.
It reminds me of home (originally being from Auckland).

How do you find the D70 in gerneral use? Mine arrives this week &
can't wait.

It's like driving a Ferarri after 9 months driving a VW Golf 1.6 (i.e. S50). It's very fast and resposive - also lightweight yet robust.
