I am a studio photographer exploring digital. I would appreciate any info as to whether or not the D70 will be compatible with my studio lighting.

Thank you

there's no PC sync on the D70 but if you use a Wein or similar device, you will have no problems. I have been shooting with Broncolors, Visatec and Balcars on the D70 with very good results. The only thing you have to watch out for is to set custom WB and not depend on the camera's Flash setting because colour temperature from studio strobes are usually quite different.

Also, since you are working with ISO200, you would probably be shooting at the smallest aperture unless you can drop your power very low or use ND.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Henry

I'm using White Lightning. I also have used Pocket Wizards although I have hardwired them with the pc sync. Do you know if they will work with just the hot shoe?

I'm not sure what the Pocket Wizard looks like but if it goes onto the hot shoe, it'll work.

I've heard good things about the White Lightning so I don't think you would be diasppointed with the D70, especially when you can shoot at 1/500 sec. The higher speed means you need not work in a completely darkened ambient environment.

Thank you very much Henry. I'm just about ready to heat up the old credit card.

What is the negative side of shooting with noise reduction on?
