Sigma 12-24 focus switch not working properly

I just got the Sigma 12-24 lens yesterday and I'm having a blast with it on my 10D. My problem is that when I'm switched to manual focus on the lens then switch back to autofocus, it won't even attempt to autofocus. Turning the camera off doesn't even make it work. The only way I can get it to work again is to remove and reattach the lens, then everything works fine until I go back to manual focus. I find this to be quite annoying and I'm wondering if there is a problem with the lens or if it's a compatibility issue. Does anyone else here use the 12-24 with a 10D and if so, does the AF/Manual focus switch work properly?

Thanks for the replies, at least now I know that it's definitely faulty. After fiddling with the switch for a while I found that I press upwards with some pressure it will go back into AF mode, but that doesn't always seem to work. I guess I'll be sending it back to B&H for a replacement. What a bummer! I was just starting to have fun with it, too.
