Suricata suricatta

Andreas,

GREAT PICTURE! I've seen these critters on animal shows and documentaries. They were referred to as Meerkats. Neat animals, very family oriented and playful. I think they are related to the mongoose.

Hi,

I haven't seen very often a pic of this one here. (Taken with D30).

Best Regards,

Andreas

"guenon"

This is the LEO translation for Meerkatze (I know, German - close enough?).

MW says:

Main Entry: gue·non
Pronunciation: 'gwe-n&n; g&-nOn
Function: noun
Etymology: French
Date: 1838

: any of various long-tailed chiefly arboreal African monkeys (genera Cercopithecus and Erythrocebus)

Does kind of look like a monkey.
