average price of F505 in Hong Kong?

Hi, does anyone know the average price of F505 and Canon S10 in Hong Kong, my friend will go to Hong Kong soon, so I want to give him an idea of how much for these two cameras. My only info. is they sell the F55 for HK$5200(Aug, 99), which is around US$610.

I think HK$5200.00 for F55 was not direct from Song HK. the official price from some BIG shop is HK$5999 for F55 and HK7300 for F505, I bought my F505 with the price HK$7300 (with camera bag) and 2 of my friend bought only HK$6900 & HK$7000.

Hi

I bought a 505 in HK about 3 weeks ago and paid HK$7000.00. I don't know what the conversion is to US$

Note that the model sold is a Japanese model with literature in Japanese and stickers on the camera the same. There are also NO USB cables and USB software/drivers included in the package!!!!! This is an extra charge. Why I don't know. You also have to be carefull as I have seen some of the software is not original Sony Picture Gear Lite but a copy cd. Why, I also don't know. You have to be very careful and check the package, demo models etc. A lot of the shops don't stock the camera and will order it for the next day.

The guarantee is also a sore point. Sony outside HK will not honour the HK guarantee so sending it back for repair or paying for the repair does away with the saving on the price.

I think it best to shop around and buy the camera at home and pay the little extra and have piece of mind.

I bought my 505 3 weeks ago at sony proshop in hong kong for 7300.00 with Sony camera bag for dsc-505 . It came with all cables, usb serial battery and charger, software and manual is in English. It is a U.S. model with English Sticker.

It is better to buy it in sony pro shop cause you will not be cheated since it is operate by sony.

I brought my 505 in Hong Kong 2 months ago and paid $8800HK Dollars(Very good price for 2 months ago) that included 2X32Meg Memmory Cards an Extra Battery a carry case and a lense protector plus a wide angle(Not a Sony).

I spend several days going around getting prices. The best thing to do is to wright what u want on a bit of paper. Then get the shops price on a business card. Then go to the next shop and show him the card with the price on it. They hate it when the shop next to them has a better price so they mark it down even more. Do this several times to you get the general feeling that they can't go any lower and you'll find you'll get a great price. Also stay off Nathan road it's best to shop out of the main parts of Kowloon as the shops on Nathan Road mark thier prices up for the tourists.

And remember make sure you get one from the back of the shop not a demo one as people have been playing with it and I found several were very lose.

Hi, Micheal. Exactly, if you go to the shop on the Nathan Road, you will only get a trouist price, which means almost $9500-$10000, this is only the least assumption. I guess you go to the shop near Mong Kok, they always sell the unit that is directly imported from Japan, so their price are lower(perhaps you get the retail model but lower price). Next time when you go to Hong Kong again, make sure you've visited the computer shop near Causeway Bay and Wan Chai, perhaps you will get a even lower price. I think I have a general idea on the price now, thanks.

The one near Sino Plaza(Mong Kok)? I think $7300 is a reasonable price for the 505, do you think any pressure on the price, since it's now X'mas period?

No matter how much you paid for it, you should get the same items that are listed in the manuals under 'Supplied Accessories'. I got mine as a standard pricing in Singapore at $1599 which is about HK$7500 and it comes with a battery,4MB Stick, USB/Serial/Video/AC Power cables and charger. No bag, no extra battery or memory stick. But I know the deal's good. Buying from overseas may be cheaper but it isn't worth the hassle and shipping costs if there's a problem.

I live in Hong Kong. The standard price of F505 is HK$7300, you can buy it at Fortress, Broadway, these two chained stores give quite reasonable price, you won't go wrong, don't go to those shops in Tsim Sha Tsui, their customers are mainly tourists and the price is a bit higher.

My favourite photo shops are Wing Shing & Man Shing, their price is somewhat a bit lower & trustable, their salesmen are quite informative. If you want the address, inform me through email.
