Dell says my camera has shipped today!

Just thought anyone who ordered from Dell would be interested to know that the A2 I ordered on the 23rd has shipped today. They had a ship on or before March 4 date so they beat it and hopefully, I'll be taking some pictures with it this weekend.

I also ordered on the 23rd but haven't received any shipping notice. My order is still listed as waiting for stock :(((

At least I can hope to hear something good tomorrow.

Looks like mine shipped yesterday too, even though it didn't show up on thier website as shipped until today. Says I should recieve it Friday. Sunday will be my first chance to use it :)

I ordered on 2/26 and the web site showed that my camera would ship on or before 4/9/04, so I am quite happy to see that I'm getting it a month early ;)

Estimated arrival date is Friday -- I hope I can stand the wait!!!

For those who are interested, I was charged tax on my purchase and am a resident of California.

Whew, after ALL FRICKEN DAY of waiting, at 7:25PM (!) they finally delivered it to me. Battery is charging and I can't wait to test it out! :)

I received today the vertical grip and the extra battery I ordered from Adorama. I know the camera is just around the corner but to have the grip and extra battery with no body is maddening!

One observation about the grip is that it seems rather blocky to hold, especially at the base of my thumb or on the rear as a whole. Minolta could have designed that better. We'll see soon enough how it works with the body.

I received the Dell Shipment Notification e-mail yesterday morning and checked the shipping information and their web site said tracking information would be available later. So I come home from work last night and check again and the tracking said DHL already delivered the package, but there was no package when I got home. The DHL web site said they just left it at my door. I've searched around my house and couldn't find any package anywhere. I've called DHL and they stated they delivered it and then I called Dell and they said they would look into it and it would take 10-15 days to investigate. My guess is somebody grabbed the package off my front door and now has a nice 8MP camera. I'm disappointed and in awe that they would just leave a $1000 camera just in front of my door and didn't have anybody sign for it.
 
Can Dell be that STUPID that they would not have a package that expensive be a "signature only" dropoff?????

I've purchased a number of expensive camera equipment from some of the big NY sellers and have had UPS just leave them at my front door. Fortunately, I haven't had anything stolen so now, I just have whatever I order sent to my work.

Hope Dell is able to resolve this for you.

I can NOT express how sorry I am for you. I know what it is like to sit and wait for something that you have either saved for or know that will take a while to pay for and THEN not have it. I hope you get it fixed. Let us know how Dell takes care of you. That will tell us a lot about them.

DO a chargeback on your credit card. You will get your $$ back becuase Dell will have to supply your card co. with a signature at delivery and they cant do this so you can get your $$ back easily. I woul dbe on th ephone with my card company immediately. I wouldnt wait 15 days for Dell to come back and say that there is nothing they can do since it shows it was delivered.
 
Dell actually came through, but DHL did not. Dell sent out another camera to me yesterday and again today DHL just left it at my door again this morning. I went home during lunch to put it inside. I can't wait to get home to play with it. I think Dell should drop Airborne/DHL as a shipper because obviously they don't know what they are doing.

Airborne does that to my office all the time. VERY important papers, marked FOR SIGNATURE, and they will lean them against the door. We keep telling clients not to use them. It doesn't do any good.

I'm REALLY glad you got your camera. Dell just renewed my faith in corporate America!!!!

I'm quite pleased that this camera arrived early (my estimated delivery date was April 9 or earlier!). But this DHL delivery service is BAD and I think everyone should let Dell know. Mine was left at the door and they didn't even ring my doorbell (I can see the driveway from my home office). I plan to follow up with Dell on this and make sure they know I disapprove of DHL (although the delivery was free of charge... maybe you get what you pay for!).

DanielNTX, I'm thrilled that you got a new camera! Glad you intercepted it this time. Kudos to Dell for doing that promptly, too.

Battery is on the charger and I hope to start shooting this afternoon :)

I've already contacted customer support, but can you tell me who you are contacting so I can channel my input on DHL as well? I want to make sure they know as well, but I think if we contact the right person together, they'll listen more. Thanks.

The Dell site shows I was to receive my camera on or before March 5. Well that day has come and gone. I go to the Airborne Express website and track my camera and the last update on 3/3 shows my camera in Wilmington, OH. You figure that if it was to be delivered yesterday, there would be a status update on the Airborne site showing my camera somewhere in a centralized sorting facility in California already. At the very least, it would be nice for Dell to send me something saying that my camera has been delayed somewhere. Well I doubt I'll get anything today, and Monday would be the earliest next opportunity for delivery. I thought Dell made its name on customer service?

I had UPS do the same thing yesterday, leaving an expensive package on my door step. They do it all the time in my neighbor hood. I even left a big note taped to the door to tell them that I was home, but nothing.

I is usually the drivers more than the company. UPS will tell you that it is not standard policy, but I have had drivers leave packages more than once when I was not home(and this was at more than one different address).
