What is average file size for upgraded FZ1?

Just curious

Panasonic Bob insisted there was a 35k difference between FZ1 and upgraded FZ1/FZ2 . My theory is it should be 970kb after upgrade and 800kb before upgrade. 170kb difference, not 35kb

I still haven't upgraded my FZ1 as the wife is the primary user. She's happy with it now.

It's hard to get a specific number; I just looked at a couple of month's worth of shots, and the range was from 600K up to 1MB, with most shots averaging around 950K, I'd say. That was shooting with Fine (lowest) compression. With my FZ1, I used to shoot at Standard compression, and, figuring the file size would have been doubled for Fine, that would have put my average file size at around 700K, I'd estimate. I did get one "Standard" shot that took 1MB, but normally they'd come in around 350K.

FZ1 average was 750 now it's 875 with FZ1v2.

just took a look at your photos - wonderful! annoying site tho, only allows the full size image for a sec, then an ad comes in from the right and the pic decreases to medium size.

were those all with your FZ1v2?

Actually no, the tigers, squirrels and deers are all scan from my 35mm system, but the other are from FZ1.

The compression bits per pixel is 1.7 (standard) and 3.4 (fine) for the virgin fz1 and 2.0 and 4.0 with the upgrade. That's about an 17.6% increase. A 800kb file would increase about 140kb.
PS: If your wife aint broke dont fix her.

c2100 & FZ1*

I did the upgrade. Before, I could put about 300 pics on a 256MB SD card. Now the capacity is down to 250 to 260. Even witht hat, it is hard to fil up a card when using a single battery. I've lost my spare FZ1 battery.
