I am looking to get a hand grip for my S2 Pro camera. Does anyone have any experience with the Hakuba brand hand grips? There are two models being sold on eBay (Kgp-01 & KGP-02) for between $20-$25 each. The Nikon AH-4 goes for about $60. Is there any reason to spend more for the Nikon?

I have seen one of the Hakba grips and it did look a bit plasticy.

I am a massive fan of the AH-4. I know some people think they are some kind of bondage kit and yes using one on a hot/fast moving shoot can get you a little sweaty on the back of the hand but the leather can take it. I guess that is why I would spend the additional. The bits that contact with your skin are leather, the base plate is a nice piece of metal enclosed in a very robust hard plastic, the thin webbing straps that take the weight are from my experience very tough. At the end of the day you are trusting your camera and one of your lenses to this. You also want something that is comfortable, has no bits of bad sewing that irritate your hands etc.

As with may Nikon acessories you are not just paying for the name but for the quality.

IMHO, it's worth it. I love the AH-4.

Ok, guys, now that you have some of us gadget geeks going into artificially induced withdrawal--where do you get one of those? The only thing Google comes up with is German sites, and since I would not know what I'm ordering, I might just get a rubber frankfurter.

--I've got the AH-4 and as Sean says, it's like a bondage kit. Designed by somebody who used to design space suits for NASA. I find it difficult to work the command wheel when my thumb is restrained by all these straps. If Nikon had designed the body properly in the first place there would have been an eyelet at the bottom of the body as well as the top and we could have had a simple strap like the one I had made for my S1. Of coutse I make things more difficult for myself by keeping the neckstrap on the camera as well.

I havn't seen the Hakuba grips down here in OZ, but I haven't seen anything to replace the AH-4, so I keep using it and complaining about it.
