G3 + s400 = I'm excited!!!

A few months ago I got a G3 instead of a s400. I debated the choice for weeks and decided on the G3 due to it's flexibility and adjustability, in spite of the s400 offering a real portability advantage for one of my primary uses, shooting from the back of a motorcycling. I love the G3 and am totally happy with it except...

I just ordered a new s400 from Dell and am so excited about having this level of image quality in this small of a form sitting on my right hip. After adding a lensmate and UV filter, largely to protect the lens on my G3, it had suddenly become a bit porky for bike use, taking up too much room in a saddlebag when not in use.

Thanks to Dave_M's post at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=7804181 , and Dell's 15% off coupon, I was able to get the s400 for $319.00 delivered including the PSC-50 Soft Leather Case.

but thhheee most perfect combo is 10D + G3 + s400 = what-else-can-you-ask-for?

Graph that is indeed a very nice lineup! each classics in their category. my sites are set on a super-zoom tho, the poor woman's sorta-kinda DSLR..tho not really

I have found the same as you. I have a G5, which I thought was going to be enough but find that I am now buying an S400 to carry everywhere. As they say "always carry a camera". Good luck

Thanks Poot,

The G series cameras are terrific, but they don't offer true portability and pocketability. I guess that's why there are so many different form factors and feature sets available. At first, I felt that the s400 felt almost too small in my hand, especially compared to the G3. I now realize that there is a justifiable reason to have both with the s400's payoff being excellent image quality in a tiny and truly portable package.
