I did a comparison between the F601 and the S602 some 18 months ago and showed them to produce identical images, apart from sl undereposure in the F601 cf the S602.

I don't have an S7000 but from what I've seen the image quality is the same and I am very pleased. What a good lens in these F6xx cameras. One thing that is better in the F610 as opposed to the F601 is the metering which was often slightly overexposed in the latter.

Same castle, same vantage, same time, just one normal and one 3X zoom. Check out the detail.
Pictures sharpen very well for display printing.

BTW. I think the F610 images equal the S7000 in those I have seen
so far.

The F610 images are MO superbly detailed, richly coloured and crisp from the camera. I compared them today with those I did of similar scenes on the 602 and they are much more detailed and more pleasing to view.

I am impressed by the photos.... Hey, good choice there on the F610. It does the job of a portable DSLR. But anyway... it's just fantastic. The F610 is the job for sharpness and details. Good colour production is also notable. I would say that it is as good as a produce in a SR sensor. Though F610 is a HR sensor. It has both sharpness and details and great dynamic range.

Agreed it is a marvel. I bought a Pentax S4 this week to supplement my F601 and it was very disappointing with poor images except in bright light and @ Iso 50. Took it back and got the F610.I don't think we Fuji users quite appreciate how good the sensitivity of Fuji cameras is.

Any word on it being sold in the US yet?

I know a few people that are very interested in the 610, self included, and would purchase if it was available. Only place I can find them for sale last time I checked was on Ebay by one or two sellers.

Thanks for the teasers.......

Incredible photos Richard, both in subject matter and image quality. I can hardly believe how much detail there is!

Cassandra Hi,

it is an amazing camera for it's size and because of the latter is easy to have with me whenever I go out.

I have been following your threads in not just this forum re your upgrade dilemna and seriously thought about the istD, but decided that I am at heart a small camera man and wouldn't want the hassle of lenses, bags, tripods.

Now i have seen what the F610 is capable of I am more than happy. If I want a long lens I just use my also excellent and cheap S5000.
BTW I love this castle view and walk the dog past it most days.
Best wishes
Richard
