Taken with kit lens (PIC)...

I think you did a great job. It really looks terrific.

Shot in my living room. Primary lightsource was sunlight diffused

Who said that?... Let them come and see this picture.. Excellent..

Lew, as someone said, this idea will be copied...

First of all... definitely copied by me. I hope you don't mind, but I will always give credit where credit is due. You should definitely submit this photo to every editor of every magazine, reputable site, etc. I'm serious... you have something great here and you should make sure you're the first to coin it.

I just have to say it again...
GREAT JOB!! (Standing Ovation)

Great shot Lew!

Your subject line says: "Taken with kit lens"

The kit lens!

Man...

I mean...

The kit lens...

Great lens right!?

:)

The B&W conversion is a closely guarded trade secret:
  • I opened the RAW file in PS and slid the saturation slider all the way to the left! ;-)
Absolutely stunning! What process did you use for the b&w
conversion? You're own techniques or some of the actions that are
currently floating around?

Once more this proves that the power within a picture is not primarily based on the price of the camera. It takes more to shoot a great picture and NOT ending up with the boring (and often badly composed) face shots.
Very creative shot I might say.

Have fun with new experiments.

I might try this later myself, but I thought I'd share a thought.

It looks kinda funny without the shadow of the fingers on the board, so if we used a mode such as screen or multiply or whatever works (I'm not a PS Expert) we can leave the shadows in.

In any case, terrific shot. I guess the lack of shadow gives it more depth anyway... I'll try both :)
