Yet another birdie post (D100 pics)

I am running out of superlatives for your shots. I honestly don't see how they could get any better... I've been away a week--wow, this is something inspiring to come back to!

Can I say "wow" once again?

Outstanding shots, the subject really pops out, thanks for sharing.
Kind regards,
Yanni.

I'll have to check them out. Thanks!
Isabel
Thank you for the comment :)
You've probably answered this before, but I'm new to this forum.
What sort of tripod do you use for these phenomenal shots?

Regit, this one is very very nice, this is not a birdie pic but a raptor portrait.

I wish I could have been there. Dutch raptors are not this confident, they usually take off when I come within 60 metres or so.

Very good stuff Regit, looking forward to your next weekend.

Cheers,

Fantastic shots, really shows what you as the photogopher are capable of.

Heh, heh :) I always give them a more "affectionate" name may them be big or small ... I guess it is a habit I got since I pick up photography.

I'm still pondering on this point as well ... not sure if the camo-net is working or like you said, they may be more confident... hmmmm

Thank you Sander :)

Man, those are tack sharp and I loved the story also! :)

You know that is my favorite bird, and look what you have gone and
done... Now how do I get them off the darn light poles....andddddd
get that close..
Getting a ladder? Ok, ok ... that's not a good suggestion :( But seriously, as someone suggested, the opspreys may be just very friendly in our parts of the world :)
They are just the most Beautiful pictures of Osprey's , Regit.
Thank you so much for sharing...
Oh yea, careful with that netting...lol
Thank you for the kind words :) And I'll be careful with the net :)))
Best Regards

Not sure if you guys can stand yet another birdie post ... my
apology if you can't. But if you like birdies, please let me share
my little "osprey hunting" experience with you :)

After having the luck of spotting a couple of ospreys yesterday;
I'm instigated to try to grab some more today... went to Cottelsole
(second on my "ospreys hunting ground" list, but nearer) and while
I did go a bit earlier, the lightning wasn't any better :( But why
waste a trip? So I shot ...

As you can see, this spot is NOT only known to me :)

1/160s f/10.0 at 140.0mm

I let the photographer had his go and it was time for my turn ... :)))

1/400s f/7.1 at 400.0mm

I waited for a while for the osprey to do something interesting,
but it just sat there most of the time... It was then and there I
decided to creep a little closer... I threw on my "homemade
el-cheapo" camo net and slowly move in ... Not sure if the net was
working or if the osprey is especially friendly; this was as close
I would want to try ...

1/250s f/8.0 at 400.0mm

Now here's the downside... being and trying to get closer, I was
too slow to crank down the range when it was doing something!!!
What's worse, when it took flight, my net was entangled to the
surrounding srubs!!! DUH!!!

1/800s f/7.1 at 400.0mm

I tracked it down again and spent most of the time trying to get a
better exposed shot ... waiting for windows of cloud-blocked
sunlight to combine with a reasonable birdie pose ... here's a
better shot of the lot...

1/250s f/8.0 at 400.0mm

BTW, here're the most interesting shots I can managed :(((

1/500s f/7.1 at 310.0mm

1/250s f/8.0 at 400.0mm

Now I know where to find it.... I'll be back :) So that's that for
my Sunday morning ... Monday tomorrow and back to work :(

All shots taken with D100 + 70-200vr + TC-20EII ...

Yeaa Regit, more of these really cool bird shots. Even though you couldn't zoom out fast enough - that shot with it flying is still really good. How's the performance of the 70-200 VR + tc20e in your opinion? Is it still as snappy and fast to focus and VR works correctly I assume? By the way, where is the place where you shot these? Keep up the good stuff man!

Got Filter?

These are stunning shots Regit especially with the 2X teleconverter, congratulations. Do you use the 2x teleconverter mostly or also the 1.4x.

I got mt D2H last Friday and hope to get the 70-200VR soon, it looks as though you would highly recommend it. Do you have any comments on the lens with the 2x teleconverter, in particular the VR and auto focus operation with the 2x, from your images it looks excellent.
