of the nikkor AF-S 28-200 IF G lens. Amazing close ups capabilities, its the smallest lens I've ever seen , I had the Tamron XR's and thought that was small. The nikkor is not only smaller but its sharper, faster (much less hunting than its competitors) and closer focus too 1.3' @ 200mm is really close.. I really love this lens, my wife bought me another not knowing I had one, so now I have two of them LOL. Here's a sample @ 200mm. Comments welcomed.
Thank you

Yup, plenty sharp, but did you beat that poor bird with an ugly stick before pulling the trigger? LOL.

Roger:

The Nikkor 28-200mm 3.5 comes with several ED and Spherical elements, plus IF-AF. This lens is available as low as $320 and your sample just made my mind to go a get it.

Thanks.

Roger: I am waiting for the D70 before I purchase any lenses. Three years ago, I sold my FM w/ 85mm 1.8 AI, 24mm 2.8 AI, 200mm 4.0 AI, and MD11 motor drive to get the Canon G1 (3.1MP) w/TC58 and WC58 lenses/420 Speedlight.

I believe the D70's 18-70mm 3.5 DX kit, the Nikkor 28-200mm, and a Sigma 15mm 2.8 EX is all I would ever need. But again, I am waiting for the D70 to be available... Thanks!.

If I had a wife, I might have! At the time she was still my gf, but since has turned pro-fiancee :) Hey I'm still only 23...gimme a break and let me live free for a while yet!

I have no idea what a 28-200 should cost but I'll take your word for it hat 360USD is a lot! Its the thought that counts though right? Actually with the Aussie dollar at 0.8USD that'd prolly be real cheap. Hopefully this will hold out a bit longer, should be down later in the year.

I plan to use the post for barter when I'm offered socks for my next birthday. :)

Let us know when the sigma gets back (as if you wouldn't!). Definately a lens worth fighting for.

You're a year older than my twin boys, they will be 23 on July 7, I thought you were married, but I see not yet, well ok I'll give you a break but I dont think your" Pro-Fiance" will, I wish you both a happy future and lots of children :) I have been married 30 years and still very much in love with my wife, so you see it can work. You bet I'll let you know about the sigma, those gremlins really got to me. I'm ok with the lens (28-200) a few PPL wanted, but the dealer may take it back since I did'nt use it.
Thank you Marek

the tamron 90 macro, I'm looking for a good macro for close up photography, I heard on a post that they're coming out with a new one di whatever. What is your favorite macro? Should I be looking for a longer focal lens or is the 90 is good enough as opposed to the nikkor 105? I remember J-P liked his tamron 90mm, dont know if he still has it though, I kind of miss his post, I wonder why he stopped postind on DSLR forums?

Looks like this lens can be picked up for $310 from B&H. $290
imported.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=277215&is=USA

Looks like a nice lens to carry around while hiking. Light, and
good range. What I wonder is does this lens extend (get longer)
when focusing or zooming?
The "IF" in the lens description means Internal Focusing thus no barrel movement/extension when zooming.

This does seem like a great, compact lens at a good price with ED glass. And it is pretty fast too.

If I remember correctly from a review on the Nikonia web site, the lense barrel does extend.
