back to canon service, sent it out today because it started the error 99 on every press of the shutter button, here's the letter i sent with it, i got a little mad towards the end, i called but the lady would not let me talk to a person incharge, next time i call and ask for a person in charge i will not give any other information until i get someone higher up. I will probably get my camera back in little pieces after they read this letter. The lady did say it would be top priority since it is it's second visit and wasn't fixed the first time, blah, blah. typed it in word perfect, i made all the error 99 text in bold so they could see just how annoying it is, anything in caps i made in bold also, i'm mailing it to the ceo just for the hell of it, probably won't ever read it, i leave off the bottom part where i threatened them, LOL.
For those that don't know this is the second thread i titled my camera is gone.
Dear canon service,
This is the SECOND TIME I have had to send this camera to you, the first time you received it on Jan 8 2004 and had it there for 28 days. The camera was returned to me with the same error 99 problem, under service details it states “check cleaning, If problem persists please forward with the lens. As I stated in my first letter the lens doesn’t matter, the camera displays error 99 with NO LENS ON THE BODY, but I am sending the kit lens with it anyway. I’m am getting an error 99 message every time I push the shutter now, when I first received the camera back from you it worked for 6 pictures then gave me an error 99, after playing with it for a day it started to work better, maybe I could take 40 pictures without an error, but rest assured I’ve gotten many errors since it came back from your service department. For lenses I have the kit lens, 400mm f5.6L, 50mm f1.8, all canon lenses and all give an error 99, I’ve tried to take pictures with NO LENS and no flash card and still I get an ERROR 99. As you can probably tell by now I’m sick and tired of getting this error, as it stands right now I get the error every time and have to turn it off and back on only to get the error again. The shutter sounds like it is sick and makes a clunk sound compared to the way it sounds when it actually takes a picture. When I checked on my camera I was told that it was awaiting parts, well no parts were replaced so what took so long for you to send my camera back unrepaired? I do not want to get this camera back again unrepaired, nor do I want to wait 28 days to get my camera back, if you cannot repair my camera in a timely manner then please send me a new one or refund my money and I will buy a new one. I am sending a copy of this letter to the CEO of canon USA. I don’t know how else I can explain the problem, if for some reason the camera works perfectly upon inspection please do not just send it back to me with the same check cleaning if problem persists message, the problem persists! I expect to receive a new or repaired camera within 14 days after you receive this one or I will start to write and call whomever I need to in order to solve this problem. By the way it took 12 days for my camera to enter the work area ( whatever that means) the first time I sent it in, to me that is an unacceptable amount of time. Maybe I am just unrealistic.
I EXPECT THIS CAMERA TO GO TO THE HEAD OF THE LINE OR I EXPECT A NEW CAMERA!!
Thank You,
Paul Pfau
