Hi, all!

Just a little example of playing around with a rather mundane image (see house1.jpg) and spicing things up a bit in Photoshop using Levels and Curves (see house2.jpg)

There's no substutution for good lighting, composition, etc. from the start, and I'm not suggesting the finished image is any sort of masterpiece, but for those who have yet to discover the wonders of image editing in combination with a great tool such as the E-10, I hope this encourages some experimentation.

Best wishes,

TomJ

Almost forgot:

Original image, E-10, shutter priority (1/250 @ f/5).

Adjusted version, just some messing around with Levels and Curves to get desired result.

Have fun!

Hey,

I liked that. Thought I'd play with one a little. I get in the habit of doing the same fixes to all of my pictures. Doing this reminded me how you can bring out detail in a picture by increasing the contrast in the channels in curves without needing to sharpen. I should have done the red/green adjustment on a different layer than the blue but, this was just for fun anyways.

Hey, John!

Nice image.

I liken this type of "post visualization" to my old college days when as a photo major we were often encouraged to push the envelope. These are techniques that may have been possible in the conventional darkroom, but really become a snap with a computer. My image reminds me of working with Kodalith graphic arts film back in the 1970's. It boils down the image to the essential elements that I saw when I made it. Those being, vibrant color, strong design elements, rich texture and some dine details. Fun stuff.

That's not to diminish the work or vision one must have in order to get a good final result. A little computer manipulation is not a guarantee of good images, in other words.

Keep up the experimentqtion,

TomJ
