Since the Canon TC wil not fit this lens, is there a preference out there between the Sigma, Kenko or other? I would assume the Sigma works better on Sigma lens (may not be true), but has anyone tried one with this lens?

Best 2x TC with EF 80-200 2.8L

I don't believe that the sigma TC works with the 80-200 2.8 because the rear element on the lens is flush, where the TC protrudes outwards like the Canon ones.
The TCs that I know that work are the Kenko 300 pro, Tamron SP pro and the cheaper MC2(?).
Sorry I can't give you examples, because I'm also looking for a good used TC for this lens.

For some reason I can't find any examples of this lens with the 2x teleconverters when searching this site. Does anyone out there have some shots with this combo so that David and me (whos hitching a ride) can see?

Sorry, I don't have any sample pics but I have tried the Kenko Pro 300 1.4X and 2X with this lens and both work fine. Autofocus is a bit slow and the combo will hunt in low light (esp with 2X). Also, the setup will look a bit unusual (black lens, white TC, black camera body).

It´s taken with a KenkoTeleplus Pro 300,
the Pro 300 is usually made for mor than 300mm Lenses but works quite
well with the old 80-200 L
You have to do some processsing and sharpening, but the overall quality is fine
