or maybe it is a fake???
I would imagine that a Leicas forum would already have gone wild!

It is not fake. It is on the display at the PMA. The speck is not provided yet. It will be made clear in mid March.
The LCD is free angle. It is guessed that APS-C size CCD, perhaps 6 M pixel, is used.

Because Leica recently announced that they are going to get funds from convertible bonds with a Photokina 2006 target for a Digital M- solution.
Is this a prototype of that?

Too funny... Leica sells convertible bonds and mortgages the company on a digital M back and these guys have it already! Talk about a day late and a dollar short...
At least the Leica back will have a full frame sensor but these guys will be on 3rd or 4th generation by the time that happens. Ouch!

They said that full size 35mm sensor and 6.3 megapixels. Use any M lenses.
I think they will ready to sell by 2006. That's too long wait!! 6.3 megapixelx will be outdate by 2006.

It's a prototype by Epson/Cosina. If they put a DSLR sensor and have a medium image quality they have a winner.

Full size sounds mechanically impossible. The film rails will get in the way. If it's a digital back, as it appears from the picture anyway. Of course, if it's a purpose-built Leica, that's different.
