It seems we have a few Kiwis in this forum. That leads me to wonder just how many there really are, and how many would be interested in forming some sort of Users Group.

Perhaps my fellow Kiwis could put their location and interest in the title of their response to this thread?

If we get enough and the spread isn't too great we'll see what we can do. And maybe we could form a 10D/300D group rather than exclusively 300D.

And of course, this all assumes that there isn't a Users Group already!

Well, it wouldn't be bad to have a Kiwi forum - but I wouldn't think you'd get too many people going there -I'm a kiwi myself but I'd probably just keep going to this one as this forum has experts from all over the world - whereas a kiwi forum would probably have less than 100 and as you know less people in the forum - less knowledge.

It would be good to know how many of us have the poplular cameras tho.

A Users Group - I have to assume that you're not familiar with the term.

A Users Group is a group of people who own or at least use the same piece of equipment or technology and live close enough together to make meetings a reality.

Thus, what I am suggesting is that if there are enough 300D (and 10D too) users in New Zealand who happen to live geographically close enough together, then we could form a group and try to meet once in a while.

I'm thinking outings where the group goes on a shoot at the Zoo, or the beach or wherever. Or we hold workshops. That kind of stuff.

If there were enough members then I guess we would start talking newsletters, and so forth and so on...

But with 3 potential members it's not likely to happen ;-(

It's a flightless nocturnal native New Zealand native bird Daniella :), the KiwiFruit, which is the kiwi most people know about ( not a great name in the end ) is a descendant of the Chinese Goosberry.

Has a reasonable history, they are tough to photograph though :).

Hey Chilli,

I like the idea of a mailing list, I had a look at my web host ( iserve ) and I can set up a one if everyone is keen.
Meeting would be tricky, but maybe Auckland could be a starter.

Sorry Daniella, they were talking about the Bird, New Zealand'ers are called kiwi's after the bird.

Nice tripod head as an aside :)

How are you enjoying the Tamron 1.4x ?

I'm interested, perhaps a mailing list, or similar, would be the best way to start if there are only a few subscribers initially. Extending it to the 10D could bring in some more "professional" or committed people with more expertise, assuming a 10D group doesn't exist already.

Ohhh,

sorry I misunderstood - I thought you were on about another forum / group. That sounds more like an idea - I'm acutally getting into photography (still a novice) but was looking for clubs and courses - do you know of any good courses in Chch ? or are you from up North ?)
Cheers !
