DSLR: Waiting for Phil's review

Sep/Oct for prototype? No way!

KM might as well invest the money somewhere else, and will get better returns.
Give these guys a Minolta DSLR now for God's sake!!
Thanks JCDoss, PLS GIVE ME!!! :)
The french magazine Chasseur d'Images says that the firsts
prototypes of a Minolta DSLR will only be available at Photokina
(sept/oct 2004).
I sincerely hope this isn't true. Jose is already too worked up...
so is Desmond. Give these guys a Minolta DSLR now for God's sake!!

Hi Jose,

My colleague own a *ist D.. I like its lightweight and "NPH-like" skin tone color! Very nice!

Cheers!

Jose,

What about the istD ? I've taken a serious look at this camera,
and it seems quite good, although like all the others, it has a few
flaws that may or may not be important depending upon ones
priorities. Anyway, it stands up quite well to the 10D.
Hi Blake,

I love the *istD, great handling especially with the vertical grip
and it feels very responsive too. I also like the Oly E1 especially
its rugged body.

There are a lot of superb DSLRs out there and for me it is a matter
of which one offers me the widest selection of lens options. I
prefer standard zoom and telephoto zoom lenses with IS so I am
partial to the S3Pro, D70 and 10D. That is of course if Minolta
does not introduce a DSLR.

How about you? Are you planning to get the Minolta DSLR right away
or wait a few months?

Cheers,

José

Jose,

I seldom jump right into these kind of purchases without first waiting for all the reviews, letting a little time go by to let prices drop a bit, and giving early adopters a chance to find all the little kinks. But if the 7D looks like a winner, then yes, I will shortly be fishing for the credit card.

I'm really really hoping I like Minolta's offering. I would love to start out buying just the Minolta body and using my 24-105 D as a general purpose walking around lens. But with just that, my 50mm 1.7, and my 3600HSD, I'm not so financially commited that I can't switch brands if necessary. This is the point where we are not just buying a camera, but committing to a system.

Don't let us down, Minolta!

(I just can't get used to that M-K word).

Blake

Well, Phil might be paying for MB's for his database space/hosting etc. Although I doubt the line is so fine that adding an extra forum is going to make him pay more for hosting.

And I doubt it will cost him anything as regards coding - From what I see this forum is built very well, and when you look at the numbers its handling and the fast speed, I'm sure it will be able to scale much more.

Has anyone asked Phil why? Maybe he would like someone very experienced in Minolta cameras to do the review(s) ?
Regards,

José
Don't forget that he's going to have to add a "Minolta SLR Talk"
forum too!

Phil is of the ilk, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If DSLR traffic increases (which I expect it will... exponentially) and it becomes obvious that it is interfering with the A2 and other discussions, then I' m certain he will split off a Minolta DSLR Talk forum as soon as he can.
