I´ve send my camera with the not working buttons back to Pentax for repair in Holland. The cost of repair are 200 euro. They would have to change a circuitboard to make it working again.

Regarding the costs I´ve decide to let the camera at Pentax. Pity, I enjoyed it while it was working. Now my view on Pentax has turned 180 degrees.

I won´t be buying any Pentax anymore and would advice anyone against it. Not because of the possibility of a fault in the products but because of the way the handle the problems. Clearly there is a production fault in this camera and they should repair the problem free of charge. We are entitled to a life span for at least two years for such a consumer product. Mine broke down after one year.

sorry, what camera have you got?
and: why repair in holland when your residence is in us?

My Optio 555 came with 1 yr warranty. If I did not accept this then I wouldn't have bought the camera.

Warranties are only insurance the cost of which is lumped onto the buying price, and in a market where everyone wants the lowest buying price then you get what you ask for.

You took the gamble and lost, as yours broke just outside of the warranty period. It could happen to any of us, we take the risk.
