Thanks, Parham ;-))).
If anybody should be interested in sample pics taken with the
Tamron SP AF 90 mm/2.8 on the *ist D, here's the link to a
little gallery on pbase:

Regards, Gaby.
Steve and Parham...do you mean the 100mm 2.8?
Yup, that's the one. It's supposed to be a great lens. The Tamron
that Sophie is talking about is also supposed to be a great one.
Most of Gaby's macros have been taken with that one and she has
taken some macros, I could tell you that.

You're very welcome, Gaby.

What I am wondering about your galleries on PBase is how you have achieved more than 11,000 page views on such a short time! I'm jealous!:-)

Where else do you post the link to your PBase galleries for people to follow?

Parham, I can tell you that I am astonished, too.

With the limited time I have due to my job, I am - besides my presence in this great forum - more or less active only in the German Fotocommunity (www.fotocommunity.de) and Digitalfotonetz (www.digitalfotonetz.de), but cannot remember having posted the pbase link there ... I am actually spending more time (and money) for trying out (and buying) new lenses and equipment for my little *ist D ;-))).

Well in that case, there's no cause for being astonished, then. It's the photos!

Cheers.

I want to buy a good macro lens for the *istD. Any suggestions?
Anyone use the Pentax 50mm macro?
I have been using the FA 50mm macro on the *istD yesterday :-)

I have had the lens for years, but on 35mm film SLR's I prefer a longer focal length (the Sigma 105mm EX macro).

The 50mm macro does very well on the *istD, it is a very sharp lens with no distortion visible.

Be aware that the DOF is a bit MORE than it would be on 35mm film, this is often an advantage for macro, but yesterday I used the 105mm as well because the DOF of the 50mm was too large to blur the background :-)

The lens is built like a tank (like the FA 100mm f/2.8) and AF works fine with the *istD too.

Regards, JvW
