Hi,

Noticed this is £344 in the UK now. Seems to compare well to £374 for Canon G3. What do owners like/dislike about this camera?

I have Olympus C3000 and am fed up with AF lag, inaccurate AF, poor MF and generally slow operation. I'm very happy with it regards image quality though.

I don't have any experiences with the G3, but for that price you won't beat the V1. I paid £100 more than that 4 months ago and I thought it was worth every penny then.

I can honestly say that there is nothing I dislike about this camera.

Wow - that's about the best I've seen the price for a V1 in a long time. I just checked pricerunner and I think that's about as good as it gets - the best price appears to be from Pixmania. Look out for additional discount codes which Pixmania has some times...

Good luck!

Dan,

I forgot to mention: Don't forget that Jessops price-matches, so you can walk in the store with a print out of the best price you can find and walk out with the camera on the same day (after paying, of course).

Thanks for all your replies.
I'm goin gto have to look more closesly into getting a V1...

Jessops won't price match against Pixmania - they told me it was Jersey based and will only match uk, in stock products with a current print out of prices. I used Park Cameras £349.99 for Jessops to price match and felt much more comfortable with Uk stuff over the counter. They will also price match memory etc.
Good luck - it's a great camera.

I just got mine on Saturday from Jessops for £357. They said that was the best price they could do, but I'm happy with that as I wanted to buy it over the counter locally.

So far I like it. It's a lot faster than my old Canon A20, but it still takes a while (2-3 secs) to focus in dim light even with the laser system. The controls can be a bit fiddly, and you have to watch where you put your left hand as you can prevent the flash from popping up. I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to it. Although Sony claim you can take pictures in total darkness, the nightshot feature is only of limited use then as only the centre of the frame is illuminated by the IR emitter and the images are very noisy. If there is some ambient light though it works quite well and is good for IR pictures in daylight (with appropriate filters of course).

Overall I'm happy with it and think it must be the best specified camera in it's class for the money.

It will do me until they bring out the next version of the 828 with the problems fixed.
