So far I like it. It's a lot faster than my old Canon A20, but it
still takes a while (2-3 secs) to focus in dim light even with the
laser system. The controls can be a bit fiddly, and you have to
watch where you put your left hand as you can prevent the flash
from popping up. I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to
it. Although Sony claim you can take pictures in total darkness,
the nightshot feature is only of limited use then as only the
centre of the frame is illuminated by the IR emitter and the images
are very noisy. If there is some ambient light though it works
quite well and is good for IR pictures in daylight (with
appropriate filters of course).
Overall I'm happy with it and think it must be the best specified
camera in it's class for the money.
It will do me until they bring out the next version of the 828 with
the problems fixed.
I forgot to mention: Don't forget that Jessops price-matches, so
you can walk in the store with a print out of the best price you
can find and walk out with the camera on the same day (after
paying, of course).
Cheers,
S.
