I sold my 10D body 2 days before the announcement of the Mark II. Now I have a Mark II on order but I am using 1 of 2 Rebels that are my backup camera's.

Here is a pix from the first session I have done with the Rebel in the studio.

Nice picture,
What is your lighting setup?

Nice picture,
What is your lighting setup?
In the studio I use AlienBees. Standard lighting setup, mainlight, fill light and hairlight, with a black background. I use a light on the bachground when I want to lighten it up or give it a touch of color.

How do you trigger the Aliens? Hot shoe PC cord adapter, or is the trigger voltage too high?
TIA,
Wolff

... very nice shot, but you've got to watch out for those double catch lights in the eyes, it makes some subjects look like aliens...

Very good shot of a cute kid, only the shape and size of the catch lights are a bit distracting. Maybe do a quick fix in PS.

...except I don't have a 10D, and my main camera is a 1D Mark I. ;)

I did the DR setup in an auditorium, and here is a shot for a client. I was supposedly to cover the event with my 1D. However, I only got a few 1D shots that day, as I was too busy shooting people with the DR. BTW, kit lens as usual.

It's not about the equipment, but even the best photographer can't make a white wall interesting with a pinhole camera.

Ithink B&W is classy.

I turned the second pix into a B&W and I think I like it better personally. The mom will probably like the color one better though, but you never know.

Wolff,

I triggered the studio strobes with a flash on my hot shoe set to manual and powered down to 1 1/128 power. I also had a Stofen on it.

I find if I go to far forward the main light will not catch the small power on the flash, so i put another flash at the lowest power and set to slave mode behind me and aimed it at the back of the AlienBee. Worked like a charm.

The on-camera flash was a Sigma EX500 Super, and the slave was a Sunpak 5000AF set to slave mode. I use the Sunpak on the hot shoe for weddings along with a Sunpak 120 J.

You refer to the 10 D series II when you say Mark II? or to other camera...

There is no series 2 for the 10D. You can't buy a speculation although I think there will eventually be a new camera. The biggest weakness in Canon's line right now is the D70 from Nikon. It attacks both the 10D and Digital Rebel in many ways, but especially in it's flash system. Canon may take "baby steps" in upgrading both sooner rather than later. Otherwise they are sitting pretty for a block of time and the Canon's are both lower in price. In the camera I am getting, I am referring to the announced camera that is on the books.
