Howdy there. I am just wondering if anyone can recomend a good photography book. Something that would give me ideas on how I can approach some shots. I have been looking at The New Manual of Photography by John Hedgecoe http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0789496372/002-6133640-4270456?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I21FWTFM6L3YER&colid=2W92ZFHE4V2OV . Hadgecoe seems to be a popular guy and this book looked cool at that book store. Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Definately a good choice. I have bought several of his books (John Hedgecoe) and they are all good. I have the "old" manual of photography, and it is good, but alot of it is for very old equipment. I'm sure the new one is much more relevent to the digital age.

I bought several of his older books used, for very cheap, and it was fun to page through them...Good luck :)

Hedgecoe's books are good, you might also want to pick up a copy of "How to do Everything with your Digital Camera" - it's written by Dave Johnson and it covers everything from tips on composition to adjustments you can make on your camera and digital editing techniques that will all improve your pictures.

. . . it's out of print. "The Art of Seeing" by Derek Doeffinger. If you can find a copy (used or new) it will be a book well worth having (just my opinion which isn't worth much – new or used).

Thanks so much on the links.
The eBook is way too much money so I must find an alternative
thanks a bunch on your input
Zlatko

If it's composition you are considering, you might try Petteri
Sulonen's site for lots of excellent galleries and very good
lessons (being repeated on this forum):

http://www.seittipaja.fi/data/Photography_lessons/a_Photography_lessons.html

If it is digital techniques etc, try Dennis Curtin

http://www.shortcourses.com/using/introduc.htm

or Vincent Bockaert's ebook 123di - but you'll have to buy that.
