...why your criminality is about 10 x worse than ours?
...why murder is your leading cause of death for young men?
...why 3% of your population is in jail?

If you ever had a gun pointed at you, you might know what I'm talking about.
I wonder why people place warnings before posting nudity, and they
don't warn about this type of pictures.

I have a visceral disgust of guns, and they evoke terrible thoughts
in my mind. Not a fun photo subject at all.

it's pretty easy, just get a Macro coupling ring and put 2 lenses face to face. This one happens to be a 70-300 at 300 attached to the camera with a 50mm 1.8 attached on the end with the coupler and a step up ring so the coupler would be the right size. with this setup, you get a 6:1 macro lens. I also use a 28-80 at 80 with a 50 1.8 on the endto get about a 1.6:1 macro lens, which is larger on the smaller sensor, on a film camera, these would be accurate numbers, but it's cropped a bit, so the magnification seems higher. Warning though, the dof is incredibly shallow, about 1 mm at most at F29. Also, the edges are going to be pretty soft and you can get some major vignetting on shorter lenses, but for closeup work, it's definitely teh cheapest and sharpest way to get over 1:1 macro shots

not exclusinvely mine.... it's at the back of the Condos here...

it's about 45 metres by 20 metres.

it's got Fish, Turtles and Lotus flowers.

Yes, it is quite light, say 8am, the flowers were closed 20 minutes later.

In response to Jose Luis Malaquais' post concerning the gun photo
(see below):
Do you mean that because my son choked to death on flowers, no one
here should be able to post photos of them anymore (because I can't
tolerate the sight of them)? I'm sorry if something horrible
happened to you dealing with a gun, but the whole world can't be
expected to know that and conform to your feelings. Sorry.
John Force
Aha - how high do you think the percentage of "choking to death on flowers" compared to "killed by a firearm" is ?

I guess we should ban all flowers from the world. Oh my - I forgot that according to the constitution everybody has the RIGHT to possess and carry flowers - too bad ;-)

BTW: I am regional spokesman of the NRL (National Roses Association)

Just to get things straight : I have absolutely no problem with the picture of a firearm. I don´t even think a warning is needed (unless there is some blood involved ;-) - but your comparison of flowers and guns gives me more than a shiver. I know enough people who would extend this type of comparisons to the "real thing" :-(

Please don´t let this turn into a discussion about firearms - just stop those more than ridiculous comparisons - ok ?

I have had a gun pointed at me, several times in fact. Has anyone ever fired one at you? If not then take it from me, you want to fire back.

Forget about this stuff and go on with life. It don't mean nothin.

By the way, a gun cannot do anything on it's own. It's not the gun that's dangerous, it's the person holding it.

I'm done.

It's not about being afraid. Most people in the UK have probably only seen a gun a few times in their lives, some may easily have never seen a real one. The idea that people see the need to own them, carry them, take photographs of them seems very strange coming from that background.

Yes, but lunatics you can find anywhere. Lunatics with firearms you can only find them where you let everyone carry a gun.

If I am going to face lunatics, I'd rather they don't have the gun. It evens the playfield a little.

You can cry that stupid tired argument as long as you want, but the fact remains. You are ten times more likely to die of a firearm in the US than in in Europe, where the demographics is 5 times heavier. Gee, i wonder why that is. Could it be that you're too lenient on criiminals? Ups, no, it can't be that. You have the death penalty and our top jail term is 25 years in Portugal. Still, we hardly have blood crime in comparison. I wonder, and I wonder. Why can that be... surely it can't be the guns... they don't kill people. People do..... right?

Isn't it funny, though, that the British bobbies don't carry a gun, and are way more effective at preventing crime than the heavily armed police officers on the other side of the Atlantic? Must be the rain...

Probably has something to do with us having an unsecured boarder to the third world, and the largest narcotics traffic in the world.

FYI, last time i checked our homocide rate was hovering no higher than 42k per year. We kill that many on the roads. Doctor malpractice nails twice as many.

I say doctors are evil, and must be banned!
