Anyone use a GPS while out shooting ?

OK Tom,

Yes it looks interesting and I am seriously considering the TomTom.

I liked the features shown on the site and you give it good praise.

But the one thing I have since noticed is the receiver is a seperate device completely. I was thinking it was a CF card receiver. It is actually a seperate wired receiver. Hmmmm, have to now think.

Advantage is you can mount the receiver on or near the window providing better results. Disadvantage, extra thing haning off the Toshiba PDA when out of the car.

Decisions, decisions. LOL

Will have to think about this a little bit.

This has been an informative thread for me, and I hope for more than just the couple that have replied.

A couple other options are Pharos, Mapopolis and AmbiCom. I will also look at them since they are CF GPS's.

it takes a GPS log file together with the times in Exif and links them to a map using the Oziexplorer mapping software (www.oziexplorer.com)

For posting this in the wrong forum, you have provided me with
quite a bit of useful information.

Now I have to sit back, follow the links and search out your
suggestions.

Being able to mark locations and convenieltly tag them will make it
so much easier to return.

We have all come across an interesting spot and thought, "Hmmmm,
might be better if I return in either a different light, or season"

Hopefully this thread has been of service to others who have been
thinking the same thing.

Thanks again, and keep the info coming,
