VOTE HERE to WAKE UP Canon!!!

You've never worked in the commercial world have you? You actually
believe in things like 100% market penetration ? You believe that
people will scrap an investment of THOUSANDS or tens of thousands
of dollars in glass to move to the Canon just because it has better
features ? Do you believe that everyone who takes pictures for a
living is just a spoilt little rich kid ?
Well, what OS are you using at the moment? Let me guess, is it
Windows?
BZZZT! Mac OS X on my laptop, FreeBSD on all of my desktops.
How do I know?? Coincidence?
No - you don't know. You're assuming and making a complete ass out of yourself!
There was a guy on 10D forum selling his entire gear (10D, 17-40,
70-200, 35, 50) for $3k only... switching is definitely possible...
Even more possible if it is from film to digital...
One guy?! Wow - Best change an entire marketting line because of that huh ?
It's not a lesser version of 10D, it's a crippled version
Semantics!
Yes, but when you bought your 300D there WAS NO D70. You made a
choice at a point in time.
Yes, that's why I didn't post the petition before the detailed
specs of D70 is released...
Huh ? Because you couldn't know the future you didn't post something ? What does your comment have to do with my comment ?
You mean by simply destroying an entire product line / revenue
stream. Me , me , me , me.
So, it's all about making money, isn't it? Are you working for
Lemme check... Yup... Canon are a commercial entity, not a charity. So yeah, it's all about making money. What did you think it was all about ? As for working for Canon, no I don't. I used to do some work for them though, so I have a good idea of how things work there.
Canon?? And destroying a product line? Will a simple act of
enabling those function and roll out a 10D replacement that doesn't
rely on crippling its little brother to stay alive kill a 10D
production line??? Well, Nikon certainly hasn't thought of that
when they roll out D70 (which is on par, if not superior, with its
D100)... and that's honesty...
Oh. Now I understand. Silly me. You don't just want Canon to upgrade your camera, you want them to roll out a whole other camera to protect their income! Now I understand.
Um. Diddums! If you're that immature that the mean people making
nasty comments about your camera upsets you, then you need to
re-evaluate your values in life.
How does it feel when someone insulted your 300D and Canon? Well, I
felt pretty bad because it brings me so much joy and fun in
photography. It's not about me, it's about the product that you
come to love so much that it hurts you when people think you have
been ripped off...
I'd feel pretty embarrased for the no-brained idiot who feels the need to attack my equipment. I worry that his priorities in life are a little out.

You have come to love a product ? You idolise a thing ? Me, I'm buying a camera to take pictures. I'll stick to loving my family.

I really don't give a damn what other people think about my toys. As long as they do what I want them to, I'm happy. If you need external validation so badly that you let people make you feel bad by attacking your purchase decisions in life, you have a lot of growing up to do. Good luck to you.
For your info, I am doing medicine final year...

And please, no more personal attacks such as calling people
immature...
Sorry, but I call them like I see them. You are a spoilt rich kid who feels bad because other people make fun of his material purchases. You've obviously had too easy a life if you let things like this make you feel bad, and you need to address your priorities. This sounds like a definition of immature to me.

People can choose not to voice their opinion (or, in some cases,
even preclude others from voicing it),
I believe the only person doing that is you:
I did not ask people like you and Steven to post fierce reply in
defending Canon.

If you want to do that, please start a new thread it elsewhere!

Okay now the D70 is out, I think it IS time for Canon to finally
wake up from its 3-months of business dream-run and start to put
consumer first rather than trying to short-change us.

I urge all the 300D / DR users to vote 'Yes' on the proposal to
un-cripple the 300D / DR with a free firmware upgrade. Namely, give
us

1. FEC control
2. Selectable metering mode - including spot metering if possible
3. Selectable focus mode
4. E-TTL II (with distance exposure)

Also, we demand an explanation of the future of EF-S lens (since
1Ds Mk II is not EF-S compatible), is there going to be a lens
similar to Nikon 17-70mm in the near future?

Just hit reply and say "Yes" on the subkect heading.

Come on, guys! Let's send a wake-up call to Canon because it seems
like Nikon is brewing coffee already!

110% getting afraid to recommend 300D to friends and getting tired
to defend my purchase decision

Excellent, so we will sweat and you will reap the rewards....

Sigh

I have nothing to say...

Actually I will take pictures.

And I appreciate the value of "economic clout" and "competition". I make decisions in my business everyday based on my clients wishes. I want to provide the best possible product and service at a fair price.

The point is that firmware upgrades have been released; that FEC control of sorts is available. Others will come. Has anyone tried them; installed them?

So, does Canon monitor this forum? How can we get this thread to them?

Do personal insults accomplish anything? Let's focus on taking pictures (pardon the pun).

I'm in this forum with you. I learn from this forum. Thank you! Keep up the good work; just keep the spin positive and use the tools that are available.

Oh! and make certain Canon has a presence in this forum, either passive or active.

Enough is enough. If you want to pick a fight, go somewhere else...

I don't want to argue with you any more... You should work for Canon's marketing department because you sounded just like one... As a user of 300D, instead of fighting for more features for your follow photographer, you are willing to justify these crippings by saying it's a market strategy...

And let me ask you if there is a firmware upgrade, will you choose not to install that firmware upgrade?

If you prefer to be left behind by Canon and looking at a brand new 300D with all features next to a D70 on the shelves, then so be it...

For others, we are willing to fight on!!!

Please do not take my message out of context...
I think it was perfectly within context.
I am referring to the personal attacks of calling me a 12-year-old
If you're going to get picky over context, at least get your own references straight - I said one comment - which was a distasteful one about you funding the university fees of Canon director's children - made you "sound like a 12 year old". I think it was a fair response and one repeated by several other people elsewhere. I have put forward well thought out and reasoned arguments, to which you haven't bothered to respond because you just don't have a decent argument with which to do so.
and am asking you not to post on this thread if you wish to pursue
that kind of attitude...
And I'd like you to address some of the valid points I have made, which you've repeatedly side-stepped because you have no counter-argument to them. Your only reply posts have been to comment on my posting style, not the issue.

I don't mind you holding the views you do - but I do resent you packaging that up as doing me a favour, representing me and that it's the majority view - this thread proves that it simply isn't. Accept that.
