.... OK then let's vote a vote of confidence in the new 1DMk11.

I’ll most likely buy one, reservations aside on this thread please.

So how soon are YOU buying?

$4200 is too much

$3500 is too much

Even $3000 is too much for me right now.

I'm gonna sit back and let others be the guinea pigs.

I have no doubt that the 1D-II is the perfect upgrade for many people. I just ain't one of those people. Or at least I ain't been convinced of it yet.

I'm putting my name in for one of the $2000 refurbs in December, though. ;)

ASAP...I'm going to Japan for 5 weeks May-June, and I want to get one at least 2-4 weeks before I leave.

Most of the rumors say available in April, which means I'll have to be at the top of someones list in order to meet my timeline.

I love it too. Just not sure when I can afford to buy it :(

I'm with DavidP: if it comes in under $3k, I'll probably bite. If not, I'll probably wait this one out.

If they'd left the flash synch at 1/500s and redesigned the body to take Li batteries (and, even better, a removable grip), it would have made my buying decision easy. Now I'm more inclined to wait for the next generation.

I'm in the "I'd love a 3D" camp... but if the price stays low on the mk2,(which is should), I'll get it.

I was thinking about the 10D... but I love the AF on my EOS 3 and I do have a need (well... desire) for 8fps. The 1D came close to what I wanted, but I like the smooth CMOS tones of my D30. Plus, I would love cropping ability. The D30 is also just a pain to use sometimes. (AF is horrible... MF is difficult lacking a mini-prism/split circle.) I already have the split-circle focusing screen from my EOS-3... might get one for the MKII.

Now looking for a new 1D since they didn't replace it. but upgraded the 10D. Maybe a PJ -sports camera will be coming later with a lense fast enough to go with it.

Like I mentioned in another thread, most of my 35mm gear got sold to help finance MF and LF purchases, so I'm not tied to any one brand for once and can pretty much do whatever I want after hearing the announcements at PMA.

I'll wait until I've heard what everyone else is coming out with until I make my final decision, but I want/need a new DSLR from the upcoming generation ASAP, so there's a 100% chance I'll be getting a new DSLR and the 1DII seems the most likely choice.

One thing I'm waiting to hear, though, is if a D2x is announced by Nikon. If it were to be a 10MP 5fps camera based on the same body and overall feature set as the D2h, it would become a difficult choice (since, as I said, my decision isn't guided by a lens collection at the moment).

If the Nikon is nice but won't be available for half a year, then I'd go with the 1DII both because it seems like it'll be a great camera plus it'll be available sooner.

I'm also curious about the Fuji S3 and a new Kodak DSLR, but I'm not too hopeful that those cameras will convert to pro-level bodies and be as speedy as either the D2x or 1DII.

Still, the announcements will be made before any of these cameras become available, so I'll be able to take it all into account before making up my mind.

If nothing comes along to make my decision a little harder, I will definitely be getting a 1DII as soon as I can get my hands on one. I'm already trying to figure out what my best option would be for getting one of the first ones available, so that's a good indication.

I know you always take some risks being an early adopter, but I've waited long enough to convert to digital, and a pro-level body that does great on both speed and resolution means that my conversion time has come. :)

It will be interesting to see how many of you saying "no" right now will change your mind after Phil's review and he rates it "Highly Recommend".

You'll be salivating to have one. BETCHA!!!

(may be petty but) is the NAME. one d two. 0r even longer one d mark two. Two syllables is more than enough. I guess the problem there is that by coming out with a couple of cameras per year they run out of simple letter/number combos after a few years.

I don't like the battery setup. But then again I haven't owned a 1d so maybe I shouldn't comment until I have tried it.

But I have nice little collection of batteries for the D30/D60/10D (since I have owned all of these), and a nice small charger.

The 1.3x is probably perfect for me. I really want better AF. The 10D AF just doesn't get it for sports.

I'm in, more than likely. Bob.

Yes I like it.
I will buy one around june.

For a fashion photographer it is a very good solution: 8mp file is not too big but big enough, 20 frame RAW buffer is more than what I need and 8fps per sec. is a luxury which is good to have if eventually needed.

Splash proof is great, so I do not need of taking the risks I use to with Mamiyas and Hasselblad, shooting swim wear between the waves.

I'm optimist enough for thinking that the 8mp Cmos sensor will be not as soft as 10D and Digic II even if will do just slightly better then its predecessor will be great.

I'm always afraid of buying from the first lots of cameras when they came around. Very often they have small issues, little things, firmware that are not optimized etc.
Then, without a proper software avalaible, could be more a pain than a gain.

I think you will be able of exploiting properly the 8mp file only if you have the right software. Otherwise there will not be much gain from an Eos 1D ccd file or a 10D file and it is going to be far from matching an EOS 1ds file properly converted in C1.

I'm not going to put my name on a list right after february 9th, but iI will definitively buy.

Andrea.

A more MP sensor in the D2H body might be a mean combination, if only they can keep noise under control.

I reckon that body on the D2H is truly great, and I think I might hang on until next year, when hopefully Canon might come out with their answer to it for an upgraded 1D2

I agree that the name is too long.

But that might be a problem when you are posting on a forum or talking about the camera.
I do not think will be an issue while you are using it. LOL

Sounds like the Canon software might end up being vastly improved, so maybe there's a chance of doing good RAW conversions with a decent workflow from day 1. Nice thought, anyway. :)
