take a look (maybe again?) at the croton gorge. this is a dam /
spillway that regulates the water supply around here, and it's a
part of the reservoir system that feeds into new york city's water
system.

sony f828, tripod mounted. two-stop nd filter and a polarizer used
(i wanted to use a long shutter speed.... and i still haven't
replaced my broken one-stop nd filter from the train shoot day).
iso 64, f/8, shutter speed 1.3 seconds. shot in the fading light
around 430pm today.

this is the whole scene, and b&w felt right for it...

the subtle colors are really appealing. we take what we can get in
ny in the winter....

i thought this ice formation resembled a floppy-eared dog's head..

enjoy (below zero) photography,

The one thing I admire more than your beautiful pictures is your "get up and go" regardless of weather. I'm just not that dedicated to photography.

Cheers!

You do with a camera, what an artist does with canvas, paint and imagination...and with moxie.

I think you could make a Kodak Brownie camera perform.

Great photos..so real that I stood up and turned on the heat....and I'm in So Calif. (grew up outside Boston)

David

...is that my 828 is due to arrive here mid-week, and I'm gonna do a lot of searches of your posts to get some insight into how you use the 828 in terms of setting, technique, etc. Of course, your images are great in terms of the artistic side of things, and that's definitely the priority, but I continue to be astounded at their apparent technical quality that you and the camera produce (or at least what I can tell from the smaller web samples you post).

I've got this 10D sitting over on my desk, and it's starting to get just the slightest bit nervous. It denies it.

Andy I never miss your posts, and I know why ! Great pictures !

The water has a slightly greenish tint in the 3 colour shots. Is this intentional ?

Thanks (again !) for sharing with us. Your pictures are really inspiring.
