According to BUY.COM on 12/14/99 this item is on backorder, does anyone
else know whereelse to buy the teleconverter..Olympus wants $199 on their
online store?
I purchased mine from NECX for around $80, if I remember correctly. It really does a very nice job.

OK, I'm confused,,,,as usual. 1.4x and it sounds as if that's all that's available. I looked at an Oly B-300 lens at a local dealer (SATX) and would swear it was a 1.7. It was mounted on an OLY iS-3 DLX and the threads were 43mm which required no step ring. I actually bought it's sister lens which is a OLY 28mm. I also thought I had seen up to 3x OLY teleconverters. Am I dreaming or what? The $69.xx price is better than the $84.xx I found at http://www.thephotospecialist.com but, I want max gain for a telephoto lens. Has anyone else found a 3x by OLY?

I have a B-300 for my C2000z. It is a 1.7 with 55mm threads.
It requires the CLA-1 and a 43mm/55mm step-up ring to mount
on the C2000.

I haven't seen any 3x (Olympus) teleconverters to work on the
digicams, but there are other manufacturers that make some.

The c-210 is a 1.9x Olympus lens($99). That's the biggest oly I've seen. So far any of the 3x's I've seen haven't really been worth purchasing, IMO. But it is hard to get good information on them. Not enough places have good samples and information.

Olympus makes a 1.45x as well as a 1.7x teleconverter. I don't know about the 1.7x but the 1.45x is not threaded for a filter. I'm sure there is a 3x teleconverter available that can be fitted to the Olympus 500, 600, 620, 2000, 2020 and 2500 models but I don't believe any are made by Olympus in that size. Many of the after market accessory lenses are nothing but junk so "try before you buy" or get a reputable opinion if possible. There is company in England that is marketing a 5x teleconverter that is supposed to be pretty decent. It will be available for the Olympus and Nikon cameras. According to an article (with sample photos) that I read on Steve's Digicams website it is selling for several hundred dollars.

Russ,

The company referenced above is EagleEye and their very nice product is called the OpticZoom. In addition, the people are truly great to deal with and are sincerely interested in producing a top quality product. The OpticZoom allows a digicam with 3x zoom to become a 15x zoom and has superior optical characteristics which you can go to their website to see. After having been in communication with the company since they first began advertising their product (due to ship any day now) I have determined that it is indeed a great product for either an Olympus C2000Z or a Nikon CP950. I'm ordering one for my C2500L and expect it to perform nearly as well for this camera as for the C2000Z. There is some slight difference between the C2000Z and the C2500L in terms of the 35mm equivalence at the full zoom. It remains to be seen how much this will affect the action and whether there will be slight vignetting at full zoom or not. Even if there is, the lens quality is VERY good and the product is worth every cent of the list price to me. It will sell in the US for under $300 plus shipping. If you need more than 1.7x (the 1.7x Olympus lens has very slight vignetting at full zoom on the C2500L, the 1.45x does not) this OpticZoom is definitely worth a look! Follow the URL below.
