I Laughed a bit a while ago when I was reading names the users give their lenses in a thread here in this forum:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=7334116

So I decided to make a small compilation of names.

What more names are arround there, and to what lenses they correspond?

at this time I have:

Bigma - Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3
Popeye - Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6
Dust Trombone - Canon EF 100-400 L

I heard about a Magic Drainpipe.. What would that be? :)

It's not MY name for the lens, but I've seen the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS referred to as the "brick". I wonder why?

Sometime I feel I can do so much with just two lenses...

24-70mm f/2.8L
70-200mm f/2.8L IS

It's not about the equipment, but even the best photographer can't make a white wall interesting with a pinhole camera.

but the 200 1.8 should be called something!

Surprised this hasn't caught on yet.

Waiting for the next "sale" to get one myself.

I've seen the 600/4 referred to as "Big Bertha" before. It is a cannon (with two Ns) afterall:

"Lucille"
"Hey Lord, whatever I done, don't strike me blind for another couple of minutes. My Lucille!...That's Lucille, you mother-head. Anything so innocent and built like that just gotta be named Lucille." - Dragline, "Cool Hand Luke"
