show us your b&w shots!

Channels split to red, blue, and green. Blue channel discarded. Red channel pasted on to green channel, then opacity brush used to selectively choose which part of green channel shows through. Image flattened and converted back to 24-bit RGB. Slight red & yellow color added to give warm tone look.

This was taken at the foot of a tomb in the Uppsala Cathedral (Sweden). I just liked the combination of images they chose.

A few more pics: with these I again used the Channel Mixer and sometimes a bit of a gradient map. And for all of my pictures (color and b&w) I often use duplicate layers set to overlay/ or multiply/ or screen at an opacity usually of 5-20. The type of layer/s depends on the picture. I didn't mention it before as I was just thinking in terms of the black and white conversion. I also usually do a levels adjustment.

Also, I noticed a link in the printing forum the other day to another b&w conversion method. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks interesting.

My daughter and I went out shootin' pitchas today, but alas it turned really cloudy, and we didn't get much.

I took this shot of Alpine Community Church (Alpine, NJ) today with my 828. I converted it to B&W because it "felt" black and white today outside (cold and cloudy).

Does this church work in B&W, or better in color?

Here's another attempt. I'm still in the practice mode. I'm having a hard time figuring out PS. All I did (know how) was to convert to grayscale and adjust brghtness and contrast. Original was ISO 400 no flash and under exposed.
