I don't mind all the other features (well, mostly :-), but can anyone tell me whether PSGv2 will have the ability to define different motion paths for each image (that you want to pan), and if so, is that path linear only or some spline?

If the answer is yes (by someone who knows :-) then I'm happy to shell out for PSGv1.3 right now and wait for the upgrade, otherwise I'm going to have to continue (I can't believe I would still have to) using GlobFX Composer...

Thanks
Robert

I know you will be able to have different motion paths for each picture. How boring would it be if the path was the same for each picture ?? The path will be a straight line from 1 point to another. Now it will not be just horizontal or vertical, but a combination of both with the option to pan/zooming and/or rotate while moving. Of course, you can also just pan/zoom and/or rotate. I know this from seeing some sample shows made with PSG 2.

Thanks very much Jason! That's just what I was looking for. It's a pity they haven't gone the extra mile and done splines or other path creating method. Still, individual straight lines at any angle is much better than the (still being developed!) opposition.

Its a great start. I believe that most people are only interested in a little motion to add visual appeal to their slideshows. Maybe in furture versions they will add the ability to define a custom path, but for now I will be very happy with just the regular pan/zoom straight line motion effect. I currenly use Vegas, which does let you move the photo where ever you want to, but its a pain to do lots of photos with this software. MOTV is pretty good but lacks many of the features of PSG and IMHO the quality is much better with PSG.

I agree

I looked at MOTV, but it was squarely aimed at CD/DVD market rather than creating an AV for club/personal/web use.

I usually use only fades for images, despite the plethora of other options designed to detract from the actual image itself IMHO. The best fades I've seen are in picturetoexe. However, while I like the creation of exe's and the fades, I don't like the workfflow and the lack of panning/zooming inside the program. I suppose I'd like a marriage of GlobFX and PTE, perhaps with some of the new PSG features (although I haven't seen them). Maybe the new PSG will be that...

BTW, do you know whether the price increase for v2 is likely to be in the order of $10 or less (currently $59), or more? Any speculation?

Thanks
Robert

Sorry, I dont know how much of a price increase there is going to be at this moment. It seems to me that it was mentioned in an email the beta team gets but I cant find it at this moment.
