My 10D Glamour Efforts

... if you are running OS X and use Safari.

However, that said, the interface is klugy ... might work for a different type of website, but for a photography website I think that most people would get frustrated and leave before looking at your work.
Tried IE and Netscape, I only get a large white box with a blue
border. What is in the box? Some javascript instructions?

Those flash-driven sites are usualy barely usable, like yours. Often people do not want to read the manual, to use such simple web-site as a photo gallery!

No harm intended, just a friendly advice.

Actually in Opera the thumbnails didn't show up. I only saw the full-size photos AFTER I'd dragged the boxes over to the preview window.
The weirdo interface is here for that. If you really succeed in
putting the little squares in the preview area, then you really
must be trying to see the pics!!

Some of the web 'gurus' making nasty comments should look at their own sites... The site overall is nice as are the shots (Alana :). The dragging boxes should go - think of another way to be different

Hi there --

While I agree about the interface being difficult, I do like some of your high-key shots. The interface is not immediately intuitive and may turn some potential viewers/clients away.

About the photos:
-Many of the shots are positioned too much dead-center for my liking.
-In Fashion: the second Jo picture is framed beautifully.

-In Portraits: 1st Jo (great), first Kiki (looks too retouched / resembles the 80's fashion look). 2nd Jo is also a nice break from the other poses.

-In Glamour: the 1st Paige & Jo shots are OK, although again I'd have to say that the framing/composition is not exactly creative.

About your UI:

-For the longest time, I was trying to drag the squares to the main "window", not realizing that there was an intermediate "preview" window that must be used instead. I really don't think the drag 'n drop model is appropriate for this sort of thing.
-The squares that don't have a preview should be blanked/greyed out.
-Many of the photos overrun the lower bounds of the main viewing window.

Hope that helps,
--

Hello!
I've recently tried my hand at glamour/fashion photography and have
now got a website using some of the photos.
Please let me know what you think, good or bad, as I'm fairly new
to this type of photography.
I found the 10D to be excellent to use in the studio, using Bowens.
Used Raw mode on 10D and then converted with C1(10D profile) and
edited in Photoshop CS.
Images may take a while to load with slow connections.
Thanks.

If it's slow on broadband, just imagine what it would be like on a modem.

Someone may get cramps with all that clicking and dragging!!! Go to a standard HTML, XML, or CCS site with a flash navbar or something if you want some more interaction, but don't punish visitors with the interface. They may never get to see some otherwise decent shots!

Very clunky, slow responding, and confusing - even on high speed connection. Nice photos though.

nice work, howard

regardless of the design of the site I find your pictures nicely done and clean with a very good lighting.

For glamour I like to retouch with some soft effect, like the mike finn's actions for example and increase the saturation or on selective colors increase yellow/red levels, but that's just my taste.

again, you did a very nice work

(1) Mostly functional with the latest version of the Safari browser. (Mac OS X 10.3.2 / Safari)

(2) With the latest Mozilla final release browser, I can't see the pictures when I drag and drop them.

(3) On a positive note, it could be worse... at least the site doesn't include sound (aka: "noise")

Sorry that the website was too hard to work out how to use.

I was actually asking for comments on the photos not the website. But I suppose I'll hold my hands up and say the web site does 'suck'.

The web site was from a template I purchased but now I realise it'll be easier to do an hmtl only site for this sort of thing.

I'll delete the site tomorrow and start again, and I'll make it more simple to view the photos.

Thanks for the comments on the photos anyway and sorry to those of you who found the website complicated.

I just wanted to press home the point that I thought the site was hard to navigate and seems real busy and distracting to your great photography work.

Sorry, I have to agree too, website, nice looking as it is is far too fussy and awkward to use. I can't say that I was overly impressed with the models either!
Sorry to be negative, but I didn't get the interface, so I left
before even seeing a picture, which is telling, given the
content... :-)

Having to drag little boxes into the preview sucks, doubt if folks
will stay aroung too long, why not try a slide show?
