It is vignetting...and a dash of Canon 'genius' explains the lower right. To eliminate the shadow you must back off slightly from full wide angle. To eliminate the other vignetting same advice. The reason you see it here is because of the flash and bright background which is usually hidden in most of your other wide angle shots...but rest assured...it is still there. Just back off slightly, you'll be fine.

If you think the lower right shadow is bad with the standard adaptor...try a Lensmate!
 
Did you have a lens adapter tube on? If you do, the cast of shadow is from the blocking of light emitted by the flash at wide angle. This is typically normal on every G5. ^ ^
