828 imgs gone to the dogs

I'm still debating between the 828 or the rebel. With images like this, it makes it a tough decision which to buy.

Thanks for posting,

Mark.
BTW Ive been posting for two reasons: (1) To become a better
photographer and (2) to give peoplke w/out the 828 an idea what an
amateur can do with it

If I wasn't my worst critic, I would think all my pictures were great.

Mark - I had the digital rebel ( it could take amazing pics ) I got rid of it. Its not for amateurs. Also the extra lenses cost more than the camera! I like to point and shoot and add alittle post processing. The people on here are helping to make my photos more professional looking and I APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!

Hi Windoze,

Is that the only reason why you got rid of the Rebel because of the extra baggage? Baggage not a big problem with me. I'm used to it anyway. I still have my old Pentax SLR film camera with several lens. I don't use it any more because my 717 can take pictures just as sharp and clear as the Pentax.

My future plans involves being more then just an amateur photographer, so I really want a camera that I can do a lot of things with. Plus, one big reason why I want a DSLR is because of noise. I can't stand noise and having a DSLR is a fix for that. Granted, DLSR have noise, but not near as bad as my 717.

The image I shot of the Moon & Venus would be a really nice PIC if it wasn't for the noise. And this was taken at ISO 100. Imagine what it would look like at ISO 800. The 717 takes terrible ISO 800 shots and I'm not to impressed with ISO 400 either. Besides that it's a great camera. I hope the 828 proves to be better in the noise department. And not at ISO 64, but at 800.

If I had it my way, I would trade my 717 for the 828 and buy the Rebel or 10D. Then I would have the best of both words and be one happy picture taker.

Still haven't decided yet,

Mark.

Have you considered a Pentax *istD? That way you can keep your old
lenses!!
Cheers!

Hi Michiel,

No, not really. That is something worth looking into. My Pentax is 5 years old and it is fully automatic except for focusing. Will my lens still work with the Pentax DSLR even though my lens are not made for a automatic focusing camera? I guess I need to jump over to the PTF and find out.

Thanks,

Mark.
Enjoying V1..

I see your point! But I m not sure if im doing my 828 justice being such an amateur - so i cant tell yet.....
I really like that picture. Very nice colors.

But with all the 828 issue, i'm waiting.

Still getting shots like this out of my 707:
