Don't anthropomorphize digital cameras. They don't like it.

I must report that I received nothing related to photography this year. No gear, no software, no bag, no tripod, no paper or ink.. but that's ok...

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family. I've heard it said that each day is a gift and as I get older I realize how true that statement is.

Photography is but a way of capturing small slices of those "gifts" to look back on with fondness and share with others.

Hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and that you all look upon each day as something special, time not to be squandered or taken for granted.

The ability to 'see' the shot is more important than the gear you use to take the shot.

OK, make the rest of us green with envy. List what you scored for
the holidays... camera items only.... so far, I got nahdah.

Got a Canon 200 2.8L. Think I'm going to like this lens. Out for a walk tomorrow, hope to use it for the first time.

It is making prints than my i950. I might only print 8X10 with my i950 for now on, this CP 200 is awesome.

Santa was really good to me and delivered what I requested:
IBM x31 notebook computer
Wacom Intous 2 6x8
Wacom Cintiq 18 plus partner
Thanks, Santa. Of course, you could'a used your plastic instead of mine.
Steve

It cost me only $50. Those bags can be less when they go on clearance. BTW, it is fully enclosed with zippers and very well padded. I didn't even plan about it. I was just browsing, saw one, and it just hit me. Bingo!

... I have finished building my lens collection. 16-35mmL,
28-70mmL, 50mm 1.4, 135mm 2.0L, 70-200mm 2.8L IS and 1.4x Extender.
It took a few years and some major bucks to do it.
Dang. That's a great collection of lenses. It will take me at least another 5 years to have that kind of collection. Talk about envy. All I want for now is the 70-200 IS.

Your Santa needs to have a chat with my Santa because I want that 70-200 IS too. Did your daughter like the A60? Did you will feel like the greatest dad in the world for getting her a digicam and go out to shoot together? Well, I did.

Here's my story (true story, no exaggeration): I bought my daughter a Nikon 2100 because it is small and light for her 6 years old hands. It was all wrapped and under the Christmas tree. Then I took her to Best Buy for a test drive. She hated the Nikon 2100 and chose the Canon A60 because it feels better in her hands and also she prefers to hold it with both hands. Oh shtt. It took me multiple trips and a total of about 150 miles to get it exchanged because I bought it elsewhere. It wasn't until Dec 23 until I got the A60. I should have used my brains. You know, like father like... I like Canon and should have gotten her a Canon in the 1st place.

We went out shooting together today and had a great time. In today's session, she learned: turning on and off, holding the camera, reviewing the photos, the leg stance, holding steady, rotate the camera to portrait, zooming in and out, and filling the frame... all in one day. Hope she remembers them tomorrow when we go again.
