Hi,Art,

No, this is not my backyard, but my work place. I wish I owned it.....

But, the landscape is beautiful ,isn't it? They have many Koi fish( carpes)in the pond but they were hiding under the bridge when I was taking pictures. They are beautiful fish and it costs more than $1000 each piece!(better be beautiful)

Hi Hide,

Great to see you having fun with your new camera. Hey who
is that fishing in a pond with $1000 fish.... gee and I thought
taking my kids to a trout pond was expensive hehe....

By the way, anyone can view your albums by searching on your
userid.... you might not want to post password like you did as
some jerk might screw with your account. Its nice to think you
have freinds here on the Canon board, but who know.

Enjoyed your albums.... keep it up.

How do I see the pictures in full size? When I click on the small thumbnail it displays a larger picture, but still very small to me, is this the full size? I thought they were supposed to take up the whole screen (in my case my resolution is always 1152x864).

After you click the thumbnail and the medium picture comes up, click that picture and it will open the big one. Beautiful shots by the way.

Hi Hide,

Nice shots - can you say something about color fidelity?

My impression of the A50 is that it has problems getting the greens (and also other colors) ok. The S10 seems improved, but still not as good as the 950, oly 2500 or Koday 290.

Another gripe with my A50: it puts ways too much contrast into my images - i.e. shadow areas are black, light areas are washed out/white. Do you find a problem with that aspect in the S10 images?

Just curious,
Regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I'm not sure if the S-10 puts too much contrast in various light conditions.

We get a very strong light here and the reflection from the concrete is very bright.

The shot of the pond was difficult one. The concrete objects looked washed out because of the reflection of light. And the pond looked dark because of the shadow. These contrasts were qiute extreme to my eyes. The camera takes the scene as it sees it, but I don't like the way it sees it, so I adjusted gain to -1.0 or -1.5. The S-10 has contrast and sharpness adjustment feature, but I didn't use it.

I think the color accuracy of the S-10 is pretty good. The CP-950 , of course,

seems to take better pics in many situations than the S-10,but not by a large margin. I think that the S-10 takes sharper image than the CP-950. DC 290 is a good camera, but I haven't seen DC 290's oh-my-Gosh-what-a-beautiful picture, yet. If you pay over $900, it's better be good.

As for Olympus 2500,it doen't belong in the same league as the S-10, Thomas.
If I spend $1400 or more on a camera, it has to be perfect. Period. And it
doesn't seem to be perfect. It's a good one, but not for general camera fans.

For its price, for its quality, for its performance and of course, for its size, I picked the S-10 for my first digi cam. It's not perfect and none of the digi cams are. But I beieve that the S-10 is definitely one of few cameras that stands out high among competitions.

If the S-10 is any indication of Canon's future camera,we will probably see a big surprise in the future.I believe the S-10 is the big first step for that process.

Anyway, I love this camera and I'm having a fun wit it.
