>>> - Challenge 46 - Simply *S* - <<<

Well, it's about neck and neck between Bryden and me! Cos her digital camera is waiting to be unwrapped too.

And.....hahaha, not 10 minutes ago she asked me if she'd be allowed to enter the challenge on Xmas day. I told her she'd have plenty of time!

Gayle
It's HERE!!!!!!! And Rick made me wrap it up and put it under the
tree LOL!
Quite right too! Who's more excited about Christmas morning now?
You or the kids ;-)

Congratulations on your new job! What is it?

Gayle
During the week I won't be as active on the boards (errr, if you
can call my semi-participation active) because I finally found a
full-time job - yay! But I definitely appreciate your comments so
don't think I'm ignoring them :)

-Bri.
Last week (during my very bored hours at work) I spent quite a lot
of time browsing the past challenge galleries. It's interesting to
look back and see the photos, but what is more interesting is
seeing the learning curve of the current challenge group.
If you have time in the next few weeks, it's a worthwhile exercise
to go and have a browse........it will show you just how quick you
can improve your photography skills by sticking with the
challenges, taking any advice on board and applying it to your work.

One that stands out for me was a pic by Iso, titled Max and his
Mac. Great photo, but one thing I noticed was wrinkles in the
fabric on the table. That would not happen if he took that photo
today. Constantly entering your pics in the challenge tends to make
you pay attention to detail!

In the Challenge 45 thread, I recall someone (Gayle?) asking how people drive on a road covered in snow. This inspired me to my "Stud" picture (page 4, eligible gallery).

Tried a different point of view, but maybe the picture didn't come out that great. I posted it anyway, since the subject was a bit different. :-)

So, that's how we drive in the snow and ice here...

Merry Christmas to all!

So, Mrs. Pops asks, "Did you put a label on it that says 'Open me First!'?"

And Pops asks, "Did Rick let you take out the battery and charger?" so that when you do finally open it you won't have to wait for hours to get that first picture?

BTW, The cookies in "Santa's Bribe" were cooked and decorated by Miss Pops, my youngest daughter (23yo). Mrs. Pops made the dough.

You have to clear your browser's cache. In Internet Explorer, this is
Tools-> Internet Options...-> Delete Files...

Another way to make sure everybody sees the updated picture is to give the JPEG file a different name before uploading to pbase. For example, you could call it sunday2.jpg instead of sunday.jpg.

By the way, the correct spelling is "sundae." Look it up in the dictionary link that Iso supplied. Other people should also look up their titles. Many of them are not in the dictionary.

I've tried uploading a modified "Sunday" pic at least 4 times and
everytime I look at the picture the next day, the original pic is
still there.

Am I going crazy?

Yeah,

I'm way too familiar with driving on studded tyres, been doing so since early Oct this year. I left a comment on your image in the gallery.

Merry X-mas to one and all!

I also started my digital adventures with an A20 a few years back. I was very happy with it but it was mostly a point-n-shoot affair for me at that time. When I got the G3, which was my second camera I started seeing the short-comings of the A20 quite clearly. Gosh time really flies, I just realized I've had my G3 for over a year. I gave the A20 to my brother as an X-mas pressie last year, this year he's wishing for a G3 LOL. A new and exciting year coming up with a lot of photo opportunities I hope. :)
Two years digital for me. First I had an A20 then got a G3 this
summer.

I had a two Minolta SLR since I was 15 or 16. I will not go back
to film. But would like an SLR in my near future. Maybe next year.

Pops, it's strategically placed so that when I do the Santa thing tomorrow morning, it'll be just near my present-grabbing hand.

The battery is charged. I had the camera sitting on my desk at work for most of the afternoon....and of course why waste all that time? I charged the battery and put it back in the box so it's all systems go when I finally get to play!

I was like a cat on hot bricks yesterday morning....every time the phone rang, I jumped. My boss went out somewhere just before lunch, then came back and we sat down to eat. He commented that while he was out, he happened to see a really nice Canon camera sitting on the counter at Camera House. I asked him what type it was...and he said....hmmm.....looked a bit like that one you ordered. Hahaha, I nearly choked on my lunch! So he told me that he'd popped in to the store as he was walking past and yes, the camera was IN!

But I was really restrained, I finished lunch, did some paperwork, started repairing a computer, then announced " I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!" LOL! So I went and got it.

One more sleep to go!

Gayle

PS The LadyPops did a lovely job on the Xmas goodies. Hope they taste as good as they look!

I've been spelling Hot Fudge Sundae's wrong my whole life. LOL

I guess there is more I need to change on my photo.

Thanks for the help Garrett.

Thanks Gayle :)

I am now the Office Administrator at a Security company (literally a company that provides unarmed security officers to corporate buildings, etc) in San Francisco. So basically I do anything and everything to make the office run smoothly.

Congratulations on your new job! What is it?

Congratulations on your new job. I'm in San Diego. Although we're probably worlds apart! LOL

Have a wonderful holiday. I'm off to AZ to see if I can get some good "S"edona shots.

Gayle & Dorys,

I'm actually a Canadian (from Toronto) but I've been living in the Bay Area for about 3.5 years now. My husband and I area planning to move back in about 3 years, however, because I'm going to want to start to think about having a family (ok, ok, I'm young - only 27 now :) ) and I would like to have the support system of family and friends to be around me during that time. Selfish of me, I know :)

Dory's - we're practically neighbours, hehe! My husband and I just drove to San Diego in August (for the first time since we've lived here) - we really like it there. :) That was a great week all round because we also visited L.A. on our way down, and then drove up along 1 back towards home and stopped at Hearst Castle - beautiful.

-Bri.

...... and a happy and photographic New Year. Looks like everyone has swiftly steamed straight into this challenge. I am looking at anything interesting to photograph, and thinking there must be some way of it being expressed by an S word - Guinea Fowl - bird, chook, poultry -- ??? have to keep thinking - Louise suggests 'stupid' would fit. Now I just have to bribe one of my boys to get on the surfboard in the playground.
