thx! beautifull pictures!
just one question:
is it possible to take a picture like

(was taken with your Canon)
with the FZ10?
I mean to focus on a subject and the rest is out of focus/blurred...
Ooops...I didn't realize the photo was taken with the Canon. Yes, you can take the same picture using the Portrait Mode or setting a wide-open

f stop. The lens is consistently 2.8 which will blur the background while keeping the subject sharp.

I could tell which ones were canon by the aspect ratio.

do you feel more comfortable with which camer? which one is more fun or natural?

If you mean the FZ10 and Canon...it's impossible to compare these cameras. However, the FZ10 is definitely a fun camera. It's small, easy to use, and nothing can beat that great zoom in such a small package.

Cathy

You have a fine eye (which is THE most important photographic tool)
and your also working with a really capable camera. I get mine on

the 31st of December. We should spend more time talking about ways to get the best photos out of the FZ10 rather than endless comparisons and dubious criticisms.
Thanks for the complement. A new camera is a great way to start the New Year. I'm sure you'll love the FZ10. I agree 100% with you. We should be sharing information rather than making comparisons and criticisms. But, that always seems to happen. Merry Christmas to you, too. Love your country!

just another question: is the FZ10 a DSLR?
and if not is it a bad thing?

TIA

Hello Cathy

I was one of the few people who requested for the creation of PTF when the FZ10 was first announced, but I got distracted by the F828 discussion over at STF. Having just cancelled my back order for the F828, I am now taking a closer look at the FZ10. I am even more interested in the Panasonic version (because it's more affordable!) of the Leica Digilux II, and I am hoping I will be able to get some information about this fascinating new digital rangefinder somewhere in PTF.

I don't know if you have done it earlier, but can you give us your impressions of the FZ10 please? I am particularly interested in the noise level. I noticed that your pictures here are very clean and almost noise-free, but I don't know if you may have put these images through a noise-reduction filter or done something to reduce the noise.

How is the shutter lag and write speed, buffer, etc? What in your opinion are the pros and cons of the FZ10? How good/fast is the autofocussing ... and how does it perform at low light levels. What are your impressions of the higher ISOs ... are they useable? How good is the battery? Anything more you can tell us would be much appreciated. TIA.

By the way, I am very impressed with your pictures. You definitely have a great eye and a very strong artistic sense. I love the colors and your composition and angles. Thanks for sharing these images!

Cathy,

Thanks for sharing these really excellent shots! Great framing choices! The colors look beautifully saturated. Did you use the High Saturation setting in the Fluzi and/or PS them after? If you don't mind sharing a bit of your creative process, some of us, I'm sure, would love to learn from it.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks so much for your complements. Saturation was set on Normal. Nothing has been done to enhance the color. The images needed no levels adjustment or color balance or USM in PS. The only effects on some photos was the buZZ or Lighting effect described above.
