828 and purple

with you using these forums to complain about anything and everything including your cameras. Don't you have any people close to you that care about your many problems and spare the rest of the forum members?

It's sick that as a Canon dreb user you go to the Sony forum to see if you can get some compassion about your constant complaining on the Canon forum.

it is sick but you will always find people to complain when you or
anyone post anything that is not positive about a camera..
sometimes I think that some people consider their camera to be some
sort of Gods or something close to it. I get a LOT of personal
attacks when I point out the flaws in my 300d. and I do mean a LOT
of it!

People just cannot stand that I say anything negative about it.
well..that's their problems isn't? :)))

Lots of the bashing has toned down quite a bit in the DR forum. Now everyone's talking about other stuff like problem workarounds; it's great! I'm sure STF will calm down a little after a while as well... just wait till everybody gets their Christmas present!

Much bashing has toned down but some continue to complain about many things other than the camera and find the need to go to other forums like the STF to talk about Canon product. These people know who they are and there is no positive benefit in doing this. They feeel the need to try to justify to themselves that they are being unfairly picked on because they complain so much about equipment and try to say that it's the other peoples problems when in fact they should finally wake up and realize that if everybody else is complaining about them that maybe it's them that is the problem and not all the other people.

There is no justification for them to come across forums like below.

You may not have been able to reproduce the PF in your shots but keep in mind that it will not be in all shots -- the conditions have to be right for it to appear and some cameras will have it under those conditions and others will not. It would seem that the 828 has more than its share of problems with it. Think about it -- after every new camera is introduced, you can go to the related forum and start to get a feel for what is the major shortcoming with that camera --- it's evident by now that purple fringing IS a problem w. this camera ---- Phil's review will (I'm sure) concur.

Too bad, -- some excessive noise at high ISO would have been expected but purple fringing is unacceptable and hard to deal with in Photoshop. You'd expect it with a $200 camera but not with this new introduction by Sony -- they didn't get it right and this is going to cost them a lot of sales. I hate to see anybody unhappy with their purchase --- $$$ comes hard for most of us and we all like to get out money's worth.
I also got the camera yesterday and I have a complete different
oopinion about it. Although I have tried very hard, and I have many
years of experience, I was not able to produce anoying purple as
you describe.

Therefore, simpy I do not believe in your story because otherwise,
you would have had posted some results. But you didn'nt because you
probaby don't have any.

And if your story is true after all, then remember, there are no
terrible cameras at this proce range. There are onlt terrible
photographers and you are probably one of them.
just got my 828 and im sending it back tommorrow, this cam is terrible

Great test in your kitchen, Wolf ! ... :os

I just tested my Canon G5 in my kitchen: the "purple-effect" isn't there ... oh no, it 's blue! ... and it 's even worse than your purple !!!

Lighten up, wolf, you bought a great camera! But you just expected too much, you expected a wondercamera ...

Do the same "kitchen-test" with a traditional NIKON F5 or CANON EOS1 and you 'will wonder how we ever survived the 20th century without digital photography...

Take a deep breath, Wolf ... calm down ... compare your results with those of a G5 ... than those of a Dig.rebel, ... and laugh out loud with all those who do not own a 828 (yet)!

Gurdy

Mirrors in cameras are so very "passé"!

Interesting, do you honestly think that if that shot was taken with a 300D it would be worse in any way (noise, CA, detail, etc)? Have you looked at the comparison photos out on the net?

-James

i've never seen so many complaints.. i think sony better do something about this CA problem. Many people are getting very discouraged. Why do they release such a poor product with this many complaints? I think i've seen much much much more negative than positive with this camera.

Yes, lots of complaints but have you personally experienced or seen this problem yourself?

i haven't seen the problem myself other than from every single post of complaints.. what can we do about this? Has someone tried calling the sony engineers or writing them an email about this? I feel sorry for all the poor people who purchased this camera and are now stuck with this god aweful purple fringing.

Is anyone being proactive about this situation towards sony?

No, James, how could I ever know ? ... I don't own an 828 or a DR
All I mean to say is that Wolf overreacted.

I have always had a more than average interest in camera- and darkroomtechnics, from far before digital photography was to be taken seriously ... and a few weeks ago I sold my two NIKON F90x's and all my NIKKOR's ... because mirrors are "PASSé" ! And the 828 is not the most fabulous camera I can imagine, but I think it is the camera closest to the future camera-concept.

... just an opinion, but you know what they say about opinions ?... ;o)

There are critics , and there are complainers . Daniella is a critic; she understands photography and cameras and I've learned a lot about both from reading her posts this year. Then there complainers who have their egos heavily invested in these $1000 cameras and whine when someone qualified criticizes their cameras/them. Perhaps it's a strong woman's opinion that is especially threatening.

It tends to appear where there are big contrasts. You can see it if you click on the picture to blow it up. From the top, and in increasing intensity, look at the right edge of the Khalua bottle, the refrigerator handles, the pots on the stove, and the black bands on the stove at the base of the picture.

Critics have a solid knowledge base about the technology they are criticizing. Critics have spent time in self learning and independant research to gain this knowledge. Critics crticize in a focused manner, once, twice not thirty times. Critics especially ensure that their criticism is offered in a positive way in an appropriate venue. They do not cross forums to criticize and simply to gain a wider or more accepting audience because others are getting fed up with their constant whining about the same thing over and over and about other nonsensical things that deserve to be handled more appropriately with individuals who can actually do something for them.
cameras/them. Perhaps it's a strong woman's opinion that is
especially threatening.
Or maybe they are just fed up with listening to a whiner whose little bit of knowledge is being stretched to the limit and her wonderfully sociable way of offering her opinions but never stopping to truly understand what others are writing? Have you taken the time to review some of her totally defensive and inappropriate replies and her habit of calling others who dare to disagree with the "expert" trolls?

Probably not.

I'm glad you've learned a lot from her. Start reading some of the other regular and knowledgeable posters and you will learn even more.

Well, Sailor, they're quite obvious to these 56 year-old eyes on the full-size shot -especially on the stove's black bands at the bottom of the shot. You may need to calibrate your screen. I don't know whether they'd show on an 8x10 print -it may depend on the printer. Then again, they may appear and you wouldn't see them there either ;-). Some people are just more accepting/demanding. I guess in today's market some owners expect a $1000 8mp camera to perform at higher levels than their 717s. I know I've had high hopes for this camera and I'll be reading the reports and reviews and scrutinizing the shots carefully. Cheers.
