Fabricating FZ10 TCON/WCON adapter - interested?

Paypal is fine with me. I'd guess you'd want to put them on eBay anyway -- you'll get some additional buyers, and some users may feel more comfortable if they can see your eBay feedback rating -- but it'd be cool if you could offer them to dpreview folks without either you or us having to go through the auction process.

So this will screw directly onto the FZ10, and the B300/TCON will screw into the other end? Even though I have the FZ10K, I'm cool with a silver adapter. Probably would look pretty cool, and paint will eventually chip, I'd think.

I'll go for this - Not too happy with Paypal on several transactions but will also consider paying you directly after seeing pix you make with the first one you get. I can paint if it doesn't look good so don't worry about finish - just worry about a good fit.

Send me an E-Mail so I have some contact address - I'm listed here.

looking forward to hearing more,

I agree, but I just want to make sure that I am not left hanging with $1000 worth of adapters. I'll probably put them on ebay for those folks who want to see my rating and want the ebay assurance.

Exactly. I am designing it so that there is minimal distance between the Leica lens and the filter/TCON. I am also thinking that I will want to have my UV filter on all the time like I did with the FZ1; so the end of the adapter with the filter and the lens cap will look just like the camera does now with the lens cap on. It will even use the stock ring.

No, but shipping couldn't be more than a few bucks. It'll weigh practically nothing and it won't need lots of packaging or anything. I'll keep you posted....how many you want, Jimmie? ;)
that with with shipping or what .... ;o)

Carlos,

I'll take one assuming they fit well. Paypal would be great. Please post a picture when available. Thanks!

Well Joan, the people spoke and I listened;) Originally I thought that there were more folks that would of liked the 62mm threads, as it turns out there weren't any. That's why I asked before proceeding - I wanted to make sure that I made something we were all happy with. As far as Paypal goes; I'll probably put them on ebay for those that would feel more comfortable that way and also allow Paypal payments for those who would prefer to buy them directly.
Thanks for the interest.

Due to popular demand, I am making the adapters to fit 55mm filters
and tele. I have spoken to several machine shops and found one
that agreed to make them for $50 each if I ordered 20 of them.
This is considerably cheaper than the $95 everyone else was asking
and the $150 to make just one. If I order 20, they will be $50
each w/o finishing i.e no anodizing or powder coat. The best I can
do is paint them black. Also, to cut down on the time/cost by
removing less metal, they will be the same diameter as the lens
barrel and threaded at the end to accomodate the ring that you
would normally remove to install the adapter. I think this gives
it a nice factory looking finish. I have already purchased the
aluminum bar stock, so I hope you guys are serious. With a little
luck I should have the first one in my hands by the end of the
week. Also, do y'all want to just mail me a check, use Paypal, or
would you rather I start an ebay ad to sell them. Let me know what
you think

Another buyer here..:-).

Carlos, since you decided to go with 55mm, I'll commit to one also. And as others have said, don't paint mine - I'll apply a finish myself if I deem it necessary. PayPal is fine with me also. Thanks for making this a reality!

Count me in too, even though I don't as yet have a lens to attach to it. I did drop a hint to my wife that I might ( means the same as will ) get one.

I just spoke with a fellow engineering buddy about the FZ10
adapter. He thinks that he has someone that can machine it for me
at a reasonable price. I will be working on the layout drawings
over the next few days and should have a price by mid week. I was
planning on making it for a 62mm thread and just using a 62mm-55mm
adapter to connect to the TCON. And then powdercoating it in black
This way you would have the option of using either 55mm or 62mm
threaded teleconverters and filters. Since I used to be a
machinist; I know that the setup time will be a substantial part of
the cost, which can be reduced by quantity. My question to all of
you is who here is interested in such an item and what would you be
willing to pay for one? Does $50 sound reasonable?
I would like to know quantity because if there are too few of you
interested; it wouldn't be affordable to have them made. I would
just borrow a buddies lathe and make a few myself.
