--I was just wondering what occupations we, the forum members, have that allows us to communicate and surf this forum during the working hours of the mornings and afternoons. I am just curious. Some of you, including me, seem to be on here quite frequently. I think it would be interesting to know what kind of occupations some of our forum members have. Maybe this will help to indentify others in this forum who have similar interests. I am a high school teacher and a varsity baseball coach for a hgih school in Indianapolis. In between periods and on my prep, I often browse this forum trying to pick up useful information. There are many in people in this forum who have greatly aided me in my photography.

Yep....one of those geeks.

What is scary is when I think back that I did my first programming in BASIC on an Intellivision game system with the optional keyboard + tape recorder when I was 8, back in 1979.

So, being 32, when people ask me how I know the stuff I do, telling them I've been working with puters for 24 years....damn that makes me feel OLD

--Imac, that is interesting. I love auto racing. Living here in Indy is a plus with the Indy 500 and Brickyard.

Night time : Congrats :) Make sure to enjoy every minute of it, because those little cute cubby babies grow up so very quickly, and you go from being a "god" to an annoyance. :-)

Day time : Ohhhhhracle...wouldnt it be nice if "upgrading" oracle was easy. I'm about to upgrade from NT4/11.5.3 to W2K3/11.5.9 and I'm not looking forward to it.

Nightime: newbie father! ;)

....So I spend my whole life around computers, not to metion I get to work from home certain days of the week. Sadly, dpreview has replaced my normal slashdot reading. One thing that I have noticed, is the continual activity in the forum requires a substabcial time investment over slashdot browsing. Between this and fantasy baseball and football, I may never complete my current project. As much controversy as there is arround here lately, I have to say slashdot still has way more trolls! Nice to see things getting back to normal around here.

Doug,

2004 will be my 20th consecutive Indy 500. If you ever go into the museum and see the display of model winning cars, some of those are mine. Also been to 5 BY400's and all 4 USGPs. Unfortunately I'm 350 miles NW of the Speedway so I don't get there as often as I like. Here's some pics I took at the 500 this year: http://www.indycals.com/2003Indy500/index.html

Don't worry spaz - I used my first computer in '59! Big as a house it was and the cable connection to our lab was like a python. Book two weeks in advance, count down for 10 secs to start, 15 sec run. Wait two weeks for the results: "error in line one of programme".

Nothing much has changed, it just got smaller and faster LOL

What do I do now? Nothing 'cept play, I'm retired. Hurrah

I aggravated a herniated disc shoveling snow last Saturday, so am enjoying a Vicodin holiday thanks to the present Rush (or was that my doctor?) gave me. ~ m²

Some people say that all babies are cute.....well, they're not. Some are soooo ugly that should have a return policy...but, you have one damn cute baby!!!!! Good job! (lol....you enjoyed the 'work' involved anyway, but still good job!)

Thanks! I really like it also...

As for the printing, my wife has been "insisting" on it, but I want to find a reliable place to do it.

David.

I am the 2nd shift Manager at the alarm center that I work for. I have 3 other supervisors under me and we have about 28 people on our shift. We monitor commercial and residential alarm systems across the good old USA If you count this and my time spent in the Air Force as Security Police, I have been in the security field for 15 yrs now. I need a change....(ugh)

It is good to see everyone's background. Interesting stuff.
