Posting this just in case we don't see each other again. It's been a pretty neat 20+ years under two different starts here for me and most of it an enjoyable experience. Thanks to all that have interacted in any manner and maybe we will do this again some day. But I do also see the possibility that many of us will not interact anytime in the future, so if so, it's maybe good bye and have a great time in the future. And good luck to dpr.

If you want to stay in contact .... just Google AlainCh2

Cheers to all just in case!

I guess I'm an optimist. I'll give it a chance, and just might not be as active with the new format. I'll go back to lurking and probably actually take that time to shoot more.

Hi Bob,

While DPR may soon no longer provide the relatively enjoyable experience many of us have grown to know, and many may choose other ways to talk and show their photography, I hope many continue to remain (I certainly don't like what I've read is going to happen (flat threads, for example), but I'll stick around and give it a try for awhile.

I've always enjoyed your comments and expertise, though do wish I had seen more of your work. In any case, best to you and yours and enjoy every day.

Best,

Den

I remember the last time in 2000-2001 when I had to create a new profile from scratch. There was no transfer of our posting history back then. Here's hoping those issues were left in the past. Cheers!

Is there going to be a nuclear war? Everybody is talking as if the world is ending soon. :-D

I am scfoto on Google: my initials S and C and then foto since scphoto was already taken.

Isn't it just threaded view that is being removed but everything else running as before? Or am I missing something?

I have every intention of staying. I don't like change either (who does?), but I have a long history of weathering it when I have to. This should be a piece of cake. We can do this.

But just in case, I'm @yardcoyote on instagram and just plain yardcoyote on a popular email service beginning with a single letter.

Luckily, for me, you know where to find me Bob!
I’m hoping I can deal with the flat view and stick around.

Marie

Well, I do tend to use my "sirhawkeye" name other places (although sometimes without the "64" attached) although I'm not really active (or registered) with many other photo forums -- DPR has been my primary source, so hopefully all contacts and members are retained through the upgrade process and nobody loses their account, etc.

This also has me wondering: what are people going to do for a whole FIVE days without DPR... Go out and shoot? That sounds crazy.

Go out and shoot? Nah. I'll visit various camera store web sites and buy more equipment. ;-) At least I'll browse and hopefully won't cost me $$$,

A couple of weeks ago, I was in New York and inside B&H for the first time in some 17 years (previously last visited there in 2008). It was an experience. I used to go there every month in the 1990's, but they have expanded since the last century.

Ha ha. I'm holding off for BF. Another 4 weeks basically. And it should be interesting to see what "sales" will pop up.

There are other places to discuss photography with others, and I have found some that are every bit as enjoyable or maybe more than dpr. You just have to look around. I'll be fine in that regard, I have lots of interesting destinations, some of which are really quite common and overlooked but you just need to learn how to get them tailored to your personal interests. In some you can discuss all your hobbies and interests without going anywhere else and share with thousands of others instead of just a few.

Bob, if I can’t do the new DPR, I may be asking you for names of forums!
