A safe space to share your practices that go against the grain or flout conventional wisdom.

I'll start
  • I have never updated the firmware on any of my cameras and I don't plan to

I HATE using a tripod and DON't!!...well, at least 99% of the time.

Having two FTs and 6 mFTs cameras really haven't made me a better photographer.

I have very little interest in any of the smaller, cheaper lenses in the system. I'm glad they're there but I really have no interest in them. By and large, my minimum requirements are that anything I use needs to be weather sealed to some degree. So the 17/1.8 II and 25/1.8 II squeak by on that criteria, but anything else is just kind of dead to me.

Does anyone like using a tripod - they are just a (sometimes) necessary evil.

I don't like having to use a tripod, but I do like using a tripod. I feel like it puts me into a different headspace and I approach framing and thinking about a composition differently.

How it started: GX85

How it's going: G9, EM1X

I don't know how much they like it, but I've been a member of a couple of photo clubs and participate in a workshop or two every year and it seems like everybody is using a tripod except me, and I get the feeling that I'm judged as not taking my photography as seriously because I don't...but maybe that's just my own insecurities:-|

After more than a decade, I'm still mystified by Olympus menus

I have all Panasonic cameras and lenses.

I will never buy anything from Olympus/OMDS.

they need a tripod because their cameras are crap :-D

Three years of ownership and I still have many moments when I hate my OM-1. Unfortunately there is nothing that I can replace it with apart from an OM-1 mk2.

  • I never let my weather sealed cameras get wet anyway, even though I cared about this feature when buying cameras
  • I sold my tripod after seeing what IBIS can do. Only ever use a very tiny desk tripod for self portraits
  • Even though I saw what good tracking AF can do, I still don't see it as a necessity. I get by with single AF and burst mode.

I like using my OM5 and 10/2 inside cathedrals.

I hacked my E-M1's and also use hacked software so that I can use any MFT lens for stacking... including third party lenses :)

I also post regarding a new PEN, and whilst I do think it's a great idea I would actually sell your left leg for a new OM1X :D

I still think the original G9 is the best m43 camera ever. The g9ii lost its identity.

I stand tall and proud when shooting at the racetrack amongst the sea of Cannon, Nikon & Sony shooters with my Micro Four Thirds system and I just know they all look up to me
