DPR Update DPReview forum update: timeline and what to expect

Thank you Phil, and I agree!

Shinny and new, not a fan! Your threaded view made the forums work for me. Never used flat view, ever! Not sure how long I will last in the new format, but it will grow tiring very quickly for me. Oh well, it has been a good run thanks to you!

Many thanks, Phil!

Got my first digital camera (Fujifilm S304) in 2002 (?) and have been using this site since. And since the last couple of weeks, hardly. Getting more painful with each visit.

The thanks button needs to be put at the bottom of posts, much easier than having to scroll back up to hit thanks

Sorry, what button are you referring too? The thumbs up?

Thank you for that.

The threaded view is unique in my experience and will be greatly missed - it's one of the things I especially like about DPReview.

on the top right of your post, the thumbs up, it needs to be moved to bottom of posts so its much easier to thank a poster, rather than scroll back up to hit the thumbs up.

I don't know what XF is, but I use firefox and chrome and both are on the top right. It really needs to be moved to bottom right.

I believe XF is shorthand for XenForo. Amazing how fast you can develop your own technobabble.

Indeed! I have been getting tired of typing out the full name, so I've automatically started shorthanding to "XF". Hope that's ok.

I’m very disappointed that threaded view will not be available. It enables you to see quickly when there are new responses and where they fit within the timeline. Flat view doesn’t offer this.

For me it's just as easy either way, top or bottom.

Dale, best of luck with the changes. Anything that makes this site sustainable with a shrinking camera market is understood and appreciated.

You're not alone, they've been told many times. But what's done is done.

I created the original threaded forum system, which at the time was fairly groundbreaking.
it is still innovative, and no one has it like you did it decades ago.

now they are going to toss away your innovation that many of us rely on for following thoughts and collaboration

buy it from them, and we'll rejoin your new site :)
+1

The threaded view will be missed. Comes in very handy at times especially in a long thread when you want to see specific persons comments.
