Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Got back from sitting in the hospital for 2.5 h Monday (wife had a diagnostic apt.) and took a 'ride around the block', actually a few blocks but never more than 4 km from home. The results are below!

about 1/3 km down the road from our house

Nice images all but I like these 2 the best.

Thanks Chris. I had the woods all to myself and the atmosphere was just sublime.

Dave

Thanks Bruce.

Over the years I have owned every model in the 'G' series of cameras and still have a G6 as well as the G9. You could say I'm a big fan.😊 The G9 mkii is on the shopping list for the future.

I've had many Olympus cameras over the years as well and a fan of them too.

Dave

Thanks Gary. It was an enjoyable and productive walk.

Another delightful landscape Bruce. I had a copy of that lens for my Minolta film cameras and years later bought another copy which I used on a Sony A7. An excellent lens.

Nice shots of a very interesting bug Gary. We don't see them here which is just as well. My wife wouldn't do any gardening if they were around.

Dave

You're making good use of cameras from the not too distant past Bruce. They're still capable of perfectly acceptable results.

An Olympus c4000Z was my first digital camera.

Dave

Thanks Dave,

My wife doesn't like any garden critters, but this thing was fascinating to watch. Fearsome looking, but completely harmless to humans.

A fine set Dave.

That waterfall was worth the effort to get that nice image. In my current state, not something I could likely do though unless the path went right by it. The first image in the upper left corner looks almost like a cat sitting there, perched high and surveying its surroundings, as cats like to do!

A nice image Bruce. Those Series 1 Vivitar lenses were highly regarded back in their day. I had a 28 mm in OM mount but sold it and got the Olympus lens instead. The Vivitar was likely the superior lens but I shot slides and you could see the colour shift in the slide show when I used it. I had the same issue with the Tamron zoom I bought at that time and it also was moved on. Would not be a problem with digital images!

Andrew

You did well with the macro lens Gary! I have not seem much in bugs other than some smaller bees and some cabbage whites in recent days. Perhaps I should look harder!

Andrew

Thanks Dave.

We don't get much of that colour on the property. We have lots of maples but I guess they are not the right variety, and we have several different varieties!

Andrew

I thought maybe you were seeing things perhaps due to some medication you were taking Andrew, but I see it too. Now I'm worried.

Dave

The first is my favourite of all the images I shot that day. I have tried that spot at other times of the year but it does not look nearly as interesting in green. The electric poles on the left side of the road there are often causes of our electricity outages. The trees kept falling on the wires! I think most of the over hangers are now gone!
