Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Lovely shot Dave of a bird that seems well prepared for the coming winter.

Our sparrows come in fairly large numbers and picking out a dunnock isn't easy.

Really like the images of the dunes Bruce and I did spot the human in the second. Seems to having a breather from ploughing through all that sand.

Those alligators look like they could shred you to pieces pretty quickly.

They do like to pose; especially in the mating season :-D

Thank you Bruce. The Glasshouse Mountains have some good walking tracks and interesting bird life.

Dicky.

Thanks, Dave. I am really surprised at how much I like the Sony A200!! Focus is super fast/accurate and the jpg images SOOC are very very good.

I bought the Sony A100 when it was new and the color was always off. It recorded whites with a cyan tinge. I could never get it to behave. Saw that same cyan hue in some more modern Sony's as well. But the A200 seems to be spot on with its auto white balance.

The A100 being off in white balance is what made me go Olympus for DSLR... :-)

The dune shots are great Bruce!!! Are you sure those 'people' are not Tusken Raiders? I really don't understand the gators but it is a fine image too! I should look it up!

Thanks, Andrew...the magnitude of the Dunes is absolutely amazing. It is not fully understood (agreed upon) on how the Dunes were formed:

The crazy alligator farm, started out in 1977 as the USA's first Tilapia Farm.
